Hi! We bought SSR in December 2003 and will be visiting for the first time this September. However, we already had a trip planned to Florida for the end of this month before we bought into DVC. I am staying in a villa off property with my parents, husband and baby.

On Tuesday 4th May we have made some plans to celebrate my Dad's recent 60th birthday. It is all a surprise so don't tell him! LOL!!!

We will visit EPCOT at about lunchtime and spend the afternoon there. Then at 6pm we have a reservation at The Flying Fish for dinner then we are doing the Illuminations Speciality cruise from the marina at The Yacht/Beach Club.

If we park at EPCOT how will we get back to the car after Illuminations?(remember we wont be in the park but on the lake) Can we self park at Boardwalk for the whole afternoon?

Bit confused about what to do. Any ideas?

Mandy xxx who cannot wait to get a peek at SSR while she is in WDW but frustrated that is opens 3 days after she leaves!!!:(

YC/BC would be your best bet for parking for that day if you are taking the cruise from their marina. I believe there is self parking at those resorts. There is restricted vehicle access to resorts. But you might contact guest services at one of those resorts to confirm what you need to do to get past the security at the entrance to the resort. Maybe plan (PS) to have lunch at one of their restaurants.

Why not valet park at the Boardwalk or BC? As long as you have your DVC membership card, it is "free" to valet park, other than a gratuity.

If you don't mind the walk back through the park after your cruise is over, you can certainly park in the main EPCOT lot. In fact, ask your Captain to let you get off at the International Gateway after the cruise. Part of our cruise group did that for one of our Illuminations Cruises. There was no problem getting back into EPCOT through the IG and walking to the front entrance to get to the lot.

That said, my advice is to treat yourselves and valet park at either the BCV or BWV - it's free for DVC members, all you need is your Member card. A tip is appreciated, of course.

Anyway, after the cruise you might enjoy a stroll around the Boardwalk or something sweet from one of the shops or carts or even catch dessert at Beaches 'n Cream. When you're ready to go, the valet will fetch your car and you will all feel very, very special, LOL!

Enjoy the cruise and WELCOME HOME!
