We've been planning a trip to San Diego for February and I decided I couldn't miss Disneyland so we're adding it but not telling the kids until Christmas. We also happen to be in the park for my 31st birthday. I would love to go out for dinner that night but need somewhere very family friendly because we have 5 kids with us. Any suggestions?

Also thank you for all the great hints, tips and suggestions I've gotten off this board while planning our holiday.

Aloha BC Disney Lover:) ,

Well that depends on how kid friendly you need it to be:scared1: . My family and I love Steak House 55 formally known as Granvilles:love: . It's a bit fancy, its located at the DL hotel but they do have kids menu:banana: . My Kids are fairly well behaved :rolleyes1 but I'm not sure how they will be if children are less than willing to sit and eat nicely:scared: .

We also love Yamabuki located in Paradise Pier hotel:love: , its Japanese cuisine also has a kids menu and the last time we went my little one was a little cranky  and no one seemed to mind;) .

Theres also the safest and most entertaining Rainforest cafe:thumbsup2 , this is probrably the most family friendly of them all:yay: .

There are loads more to choose from:dance3: , hope you find one that you like, you can also go to www.allears.net:surfweb: and check out menus from all the restaurants in the parks and hotels of Disneyland:wizard: .

Good Luck, Zena :cutie:

I stayed at the Grand Californian when I was there last, and we had a GREAT dinner at Napa Rose in the hotel. The downside, it's quite up there on the expense list, and you need proper attire for it. If those aren't detractors for you, then I'd suggest making reservations there, they are kid-friendly in the way that when I was there, there was a party with many kids in it that seemed to be having a great time. The other place that I know of in the hotel there is the Storytellers Restaurant, in the mornings they have Chip & Dale in there, and I saw some other characters in there throughout the day as well. So you might have luck with there, it's a bit on the casual side, since it's right by the pool, but the atmosphere is great there.
As far as out in the open, I had dinner at Brennen's (sp) in DTD, and the food was excellent, I love Cajun/Creole cooking, and they know how to do it right. I also ate in California Adventure too, at the Wine Country Trattoria (sp again). It's very family friendly, and the best part, you can get wine there! LOL. THe food was great, but I really reccomend Priority Seating for ANY place you want to eat in the Parks.
My all time favorite eatery IN the parks though, hands down, goes to BLUE BAYOU in New Orleans Square. YOU'RE RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE PIRATES ride! The food is great, the atmosphere is phenomenal, and it's entertaining because the people going by in the boats can look at you and if you're celebrating your birthday, and they're singing happy birthday to you, sometimes the people in the boat join in. Well worth it!
Sorry if I'm longwinded. And I hope this helps.

I think Goofy's is really fun. Its certainly family friendly, there are kids of all ages having a great time. Its pricey but so much fun, we ate there on my husband's birthday two years ago as well as many other times. If you want something less kid oriented, I like the Rainforest Cafe (but you may have one near you which makes this less than special). Lots of kids but lots of fun adult drinks too. I have also enjoyed some nice dinners at Naples in DTD. The Blue Bayou inside Disneyland is also very fun, great atmosphere right inside the POTC ride.

Have a great birthday!

Thank you so much for all your suggestions. I really want to try Blue Bayou someday but maybe without the kids. I have lots of time and hopefully I can find some menus to help decide.
