Where Pixie-Dusted Birthday Dreams Come True! A July Trip Report! PTR Link! Pg. 116

I love the new updates, especially Charles' haircut!

I know first hand how Chelsea felt when she lost her camera! We lost ours this past weekend in Gatlinburg! We didn't get ours back, nor of course our pictures. Rats! :sad1:

Charles looks like a new man with his hair cut.

Lovely breakfast at Crystal Palace. The only time my girls take photos with characters is at meals too.:sad2:

And they are especially cute at Christmas time with all of their festive hats and scarves on.

Such a cool entrance to this land. As soon as you reach the bridge and hear that music, it transports you to that exciting land of pirates and magic carpets and talking birds and fake (but still totally cool) jungle animals.

I love all the signatures in the Birthday card, they are so perfect for each character!

I think Eeyore is the cutest of them all, he just look so cuddly. :cloud9:

Wooo hoooo!!! I like the new Disney lovin' Charles!!! :thumbsup2

Glad Connor is enjoying conquering the mountains!! ::yes::

I love CP breakfast....such a pretty restaurant and the only place I eat scrambled eggs is on Disney property

Looking forward your cruise of sorts:confused:

Tracy

Love all the pictures from CP...I loved eating there too in 08 and taking picture w/ WTP and friends :goodvibes

I love Adventurland too...can't wait to see what fun you found there!

Charles' haircut looks good :thumbsup2

Aww I love CP! It's one of our favorite buffets. Your character pictures came out so cute.

I love that Charles got his hair cut in MK! My Charles is the same way with his hair; he lets it get pretty long before he finally cuts it. Then he grumbles a lot about it being too long, then says he's too lazy to get it cut and asks me to do it

So exciting that Connor conquered EE AND Space Mountain! I love the rollercoasters!

The Crystal Palace is great--- you got some terrific pictures of the kids with the characters!

Thanks! I love how happy they look!

I'm so glad I made an ADR for breakfast at Crystal Palace in March!! :cloud9:

Charles got a great haircut!! :thumbsup2

Yes, Crystal Palace breakfast is the best!

I have an 8:10am ressie in January on my departure day and I'm so looking forward to it!!!! I get the experience of an empty Main Street (for a moment it will be all mine) and I get the great food at CP! I can't wait!!!

There are so many yummy items to choose from!

Charles' haircut looks good! They did a great job! Love the sticker!!!

It made me laugh so hard that Charles got a sticker!

Awww...your picture with Piglet is adorable! I have an inner piglet too...I'm such a worrier!!

It's not pretty when I go into Piglet-mode.

Well I hope Halloween is a festive and fun event in the CP household!! Have a great evening!

We had a good time -- thanks!

Awwww, so glad Charles was a good boy and got a sticker after his haircut

I love Crystal Palace, I could sure go for some french toast puffs right about now!

Me too! CP breakfast food would be way better than the granola bar I will end up having!

I'm so proud of Charles for earning a sticker!:lmao:

If only he had agreed to some pixie dust! ;)

Seriously, isn't it so much fun to get a hair cut there? I love how great they are with kids of all ages!

They were great! I loved watching all the little girls getting their fancy pixie-dusted up-dos.

Your pictures of Crystal Palace make me miss it so much! I haven't been there in a few years, and actually I don't ever remember going for breakfast. I love the topiaries as well, they're adorable. Looks like some good birthday fun was going on, and it's nice to see a picture with you and the kids. :goodvibes

Oh, the breakfast food is sooo good. We went one other time in 2004, and it was delicious, then, too.

We love CP breakfast - especially before park opening!!

I have to admit the mid-morning breakfast was really good, too. It was nice to escape the heat and sit down for a little bit.

Charles' haircut looks terrific! I think he should go there for his haircuts ALL the time! ;)

Me too! It is an excellent idea!

Cute card from Pooh and the gang - great pictures! I understand about the characters having to come to you - I appreciate that way more than waiting in lines - that's why we still do character meals, so I don't have to waste time standing in line!

I kind of miss the days when the kids would wait in lines to see the characters. :(

I'm so happy Charles got his Mickey sticker :rotfl:
Crystal Palace is our favorite Disney breakfast spot. Great food in a beautiful restaurant.
Chelsea's birthday card is so cute!

Charles was very pleased with it! LOL!

I thought the card was just adorable!

Great updates, Jackie. :thumbsup2
I think I'll have to make a brunch ADR some time. That would be perfect for a mid-morning break.

It is a wonderful way to rest and refuel before hitting more of the park. I copied Happydog's suggestion to do it.

Cute haircut and a sticker to boot! Go Charles! :woohoo:

I was very proud of him.

I absolutely love your pictures of the kids. The are both so adorable and seem to really enjoy posing with the characters. CP is one of my favorite breakfasts! Yum! I was ready to drool over some food pictures. Where are they? :rotfl:

No food pics. I was trying to eat and get pictures with the characters, so I totally forgot to photograph what we were eating.

A cruise of sorts? Hmmmmmmm....what does THAT mean?

Oh, no mystery -- just a reference to the Jungle Cruise.

I love it that Charles got his hair cut in the Magic Kingdom. And thought it was the best haircut ever! Maybe I should get my husband to get his haircut there next time...

I totally think you should convince your husband to get a haircut. LOL!

The kids' pictures with the characters are adorable! As is the pic of you, the kids, and Piglet!

Thanks! I love their big grins!

Sounds like a hot, hot day. I hope you were able to stave off the whining from the troops!

It was pretty hot, but we tried to make the best of it.

Love the updates!! That is great that Charles got his haircut in MK:thumbsup2
My DH lets his hair grow long during the winter & his hair is thick also. When trip time rolls around I give him a buzz cut. I like his hair much better when it is short. Charles looks great with his new cut!!

Charles does much the same thing. I like it so much better when it is short.

Yay for breakfast at CP. One of our favs:goodvibes They have such a great selection & that breakfast lasagna is wonderful:thumbsup2

Yes, it is! Yum, yum, yum!

Glad to hear Connor conquered Space Mountain!!

Without a doubt, he became one of the thrill riders on this trip.

I love CP but have only done Supper !!! Great Haircut !!!

Breakfast is wonderful! Of course, it is the only meal we have done there, but it is very tasty!

Charles haircut came out good...glad he was good and recieve his Mickey Sticker.

I was very proud.

The time at CP looks like a great time and some nice pics of the kids. Looking forward to reading about the adventrues in Adventureland.

I actually have the update ready to go! I realized I was ready to get this TR moving.

There are two things I find funny here, but I guess you've been going more than once a year lately -

1. Taking time to wait for rope drop, then stopping for breakfast
2. Taking time to get a haircut :goodvibes

I guess you did get to SM first!:thumbsup2 We are always totally commando at RD - trying to get on all the bigs before the rest of the world wakes up and realizes there are lines forming!:rotfl2:

My original plan was to get a bunch of the rides done since we were there at rope drop, but Charles had other plans. I figured it wasn't too big a deal since we are there at least once a year.

I'm glad your breakfast was so nice! The birthday surprise for Chelsea was fun, and those Pooh characters are so huggable!!

Yes, they are! :goodvibes

Charles did get a good haircut, and I'm glad he earned the Mickey sticker, too!:thumbsup2 Looking forward to your Adventures!

The sticker was the next best thing to pixie dust!

Once again I was behind but have caught up :thumbsup2

Charles' haircut came out excellent! I wonder if I could get Chris to do that next year :rolleyes1

You totally should!!!

Great pictures from Crystal Palace! I'd like to try lunch there. Have you ever had it?

Nope, just breakfast, but I have heard good things about the other two meals.

I may have missed this somewhere along the line but do you guys have any plans for a trip next year?

Not yet. We are trying to figure out our summer plans. We are thinking of doing a summer trip from May 27 to June 2 to take advantage of free dining, but we haven't decided anything definite yet.

I love the new updates, especially Charles' haircut!

I know first hand how Chelsea felt when she lost her camera! We lost ours this past weekend in Gatlinburg! We didn't get ours back, nor of course our pictures. Rats! :sad1:

Oh, no! How horrible that you lost your camera! :(

Haircut looks good! Yay for a CP bkfst. Cute character pics!

Thanks! I love the big grins on my kids' faces!

Charles looks like a new man with his hair cut.

Lovely breakfast at Crystal Palace. The only time my girls take photos with characters is at meals too.:sad2:

I know Charles was cooler, too, after he got all that hair cut off.

It's very sad to me that my kids are too "cool" to take pictures with the characters around the parks.

And they are especially cute at Christmas time with all of their festive hats and scarves on.

Ahhh, that's right! I remember seeing those pictures! So cute!

Such a cool entrance to this land. As soon as you reach the bridge and hear that music, it transports you to that exciting land of pirates and magic carpets and talking birds and fake (but still totally cool) jungle animals.

That music always puts a spring in my step as I walk across the bridge!

I love all the signatures in the Birthday card, they are so perfect for each character!

I thought so, too!

I think Eeyore is the cutest of them all, he just look so cuddly. :cloud9:

I always want to cheer Eeyore up when I see him!

I love all the Pooh pictures! I don't blame you at all for hoping in one yourself.

I am just a big kid at heart!

Charles' haircut looks a lot like the one I give MY Charles. :thumbsup2

I love the topiaries at CP, too. :goodvibes

Charles likes to keep it really short. :thumbsup2

Wooo hoooo!!! I like the new Disney lovin' Charles!!! :thumbsup2

Let's hope the Disney love sticks around. LOL!

Glad Connor is enjoying conquering the mountains!! ::yes::

He was fearless on this trip!

I love CP breakfast....such a pretty restaurant and the only place I eat scrambled eggs is on Disney property

You crack me up, Tracy! We eat scrambled eggs all the time, but Disney ones are pretty tasty!

Looking forward your cruise of sorts:confused:

Tracy

Just the Jungle Cruise. :goodvibes

I love character meals...the only way I can snap shots with characters too!

I remember reading that on your TR and thinking the same thing!

Love all the pictures from CP...I loved eating there too in 08 and taking picture w/ WTP and friends :goodvibes

I love Adventurland too...can't wait to see what fun you found there!

Thanks, Julie! We had lots of fun!

Charles' haircut looks good :thumbsup2

Aww I love CP! It's one of our favorite buffets. Your character pictures came out so cute.

Thanks! I love the happiness on my kids' faces in the pictures with Pooh and the Gang.

I love that Charles got his hair cut in MK! My Charles is the same way with his hair; he lets it get pretty long before he finally cuts it. Then he grumbles a lot about it being too long, then says he's too lazy to get it cut and asks me to do it

Why that is exactly what happens at our house, too. Only I send Charles out to get his haircut when he starts complaining. LOL!

So exciting that Connor conquered EE AND Space Mountain! I love the rollercoasters!

I was very proud of my little man! :goodvibes

July 21, 2010: Part Three

No trip to the Magic Kingdom is complete for me without venturing into that lush land of exotic mystery -- Adventureland!

334.jpg

336.jpg

177-1.jpg

Aloha Isle, my pretty, we will be back!

180-1.jpg

I ventured into the jungle to obtain Fast Passes for the Jungle Cruise.

337.jpg

Connor browsed among the weapons. After all, you never know what you might encounter in Adventureland!

178-1.jpg

You can see from this picture that Charles was becoming a tiny bit cranky. How long would he last?

181-1.jpg

We explored Agrabah and said hello to the camels.

340.jpg

182-1.jpg

We didn’t linger for long because we had a date with some birds. One of Connor’s few requests on this trip was to see the Enchanted Tiki Room, so that’s where we headed first.

186-1.jpg

346.jpg

347.jpg

Tikis -- some more hidden than others!

344.jpg

187-1.jpg

342.jpg

343.jpg

Connor was absolutely shocked at Iago’s ill manners towards the original Tiki Room birds, but we all thoroughly enjoyed the singing Tiki statues. (We are easily amused.)

345.jpg

191-1.jpg

Afterwards, Charles wanted a drink. Since Sunshine Tree Terrace was right there, that’s where we headed. Chelsea snapped some more back-of-the-head shots of us.

341.jpg

184-1.jpg

185.jpg

Where to next?

It was time to hang out with our favorite pirates.

348.jpg

Chelsea opted for the close-up!

192-1.jpg

The line was rather long and was packed full of Brazilian tour groups. This is where Charles turned to me and said, “I’m out.” I knew it was coming from the look on his face, so I sent him on his way back to the resort. The kids and I opted to stay.

Once we had entered into the actual Pirates building, the tour groups’ chanting was echoing like crazy. At one point, a CM screamed at them, “Be Quiet!!!” I must confess I have never heard a CM lose her temper like that one did, but it worked. The tour groups were quiet after that.

Connor ponders the many possible uses for barrels of gunpowder.

349.jpg

Having successfully fled the burning town and the pillaging pirates, it was time to explore the exotic rivers of the world on the Jungle Cruise.

350.jpg

CONTINUED IN THE NEXT POST!

Is anyone surprised to learn we love the theming in this queue and the corny jokes on the ride?

352.jpg

353.jpg

355.jpg

356.jpg

Now, I have to explain this next picture. Usually when I get the kids to pose, I will say something like, “Be a brave adventurer,” or whatever the “scene” calls for. Somehow, I don’t think Connor quite captured the “brave adventurer” look here. I am not really sure what look he conveyed unless it is the “it’s so hot my brain is completely addled” look. In which case, once again, Connor proves he is a consummate actor.

354.jpg

357.jpg

Soon, our version of the African Queen arrived…the Nile Nellie!

358.jpg

Chelsea was quite happy to be sitting down.

359.jpg

There is no telling what I thought I was taking a picture of here.

360.jpg

361.jpg

Kaa, is that you???

362.jpg

Apparently elephants were a theme on this trip -- both real ones and pretend ones.

363.jpg

The lions were awake on this cruise. Oh, wait -- wrong ride! ;)

364.jpg

Love the shrunken head seller!

365.jpg

I would like this sign for my classroom. LOL!

351.jpg

Having accomplished all of our must-dos in Adventureland, we went and grabbed Fast Passes for Big Thunder Mountain for the evening. We thought we would do the Haunted Mansion, but the wait was 30 minutes! I don’t think I have ever seen a wait that long before! We discussed our options and decided it was time to escape the heat and take a break. We walked slowly down Main Street, browsed through all the shops, stopped for fudge at the Main Street Confectionary, and caught a bus back to CBR. It was naptime for all of us!

Stopping for fudge, now that is my type of family!!!

The look on Connor's face is priceless, for a brave adventurer going on the Jungle Cruise he might have just mastered the right look! He's a tour guide in training already!!!

Glad the pirates decided not to keep you, should of kept the Brazilian tour groups instead LOL!!

Great way to start my morning! Thanks Jackie!

Connor browsed among the weapons. After all, you never know what you might encounter in Adventureland!

178-1.jpg

I would feel so much safer knowing Connor and his weapons were coming along. :thumbsup2

Brooklynn and I enjoyed the Tiki Room just a couple of weeks ago. Oh, how I wanted to jump back into your pictures and be back there again to roam Adventureland and to watch her face as she takes everything in.

Have I said how much I love Disney World???
And when I am not there, I really, really love seeing all the pictures. :)
Thanks for starting my Conference Day off with some Adventureland fun.

The chanting tour groups - I really wish they would make some hard and fast rules for them. Why do they have to do all that yelling? That can be saved for when they get home. It really is annoying.

All caught up. Such fun! I must say I have never really noticed the tour groups as much as I did. Seems their "season" is expanding. :scared1: I also heard lots of other guests commenting on them and their behavior. I would think at some point Disney will have to find a way to manage it better.

I love Adventureland too! 30 min for HM... wow. Were the grave sites on the way in still open when you are there? They are boarded up now and I guess they are working on some new queue elements. Can't wait to see what they come up with!

I am a big fan of naps and pooltime back at the resort... we don't want Connor's brain addled any further!! ;)
