Where DOES magic live... well, we know the obvious answer for most of us here (at WDW of course!) -- but I have go to share with all of you ... that I think MAGIC LIVES RIGHT HERE at the disboards too! And not just the disboards, but all of the other helpful disney guidebooks and websites (most have been mentioned here time to time... UG, mousesavers/allearsnet, and so on) --
Why? Because I remember thinking back when I was younger -- maybe because I was a kid and I didn't know -- but there were no guidebooks or web pages to discover all the neat tricks, tips, insider info and magical stories that I have discovered in the past year.
I had been to WDW and DL a number of times prior to discovering the internet and guidebooks as a tool for vacation planning -- I even have had friends that have been CM's for years at DL -- but sometimes, I would sometimes look around and think -- I wonder if there's something I'm missing... My first trip back to WDW after being on these boards -- I felt like I was part of a "club" -- though I didn't happen to run into any diser's -- I still felt like I had a whole group of people behind me... cheering me on to have a simply magical time. I felt more deeply connected to the whole place... which is funny as I thought I'd had a special connection with Disney all along -- didn't think it would become so much more profound....
All of the info I've gleaned, all of the touching stories I've read... it all adds to the Magical feel I have for Disney... When I read about someone's child first learning to walk in the castle, or the touching and humorous memories others have shared... about Kitty, being blind and still having fun and dancing in the streets at WDW, about delswife and her saga with the extended family -- I able to incorporate it into my own philosophy about Disney and why I enjoy it so much!
And about the good insider advice you have all so gladly and kindly shared with myself and countless others... about not judging newbies or people that maybe don't have as much disney experience or knowledge -- to me... it's all of you guys who are really MAKING and SPREADING the magic!
So, to me -- it is magical, to be able to sit down at my computer and type in a simple address and be transported to a magical place where I will either learn something new about one of my favorite places or hear something touching, new or funny about it!
And when I'm in WDW next week (June 11-16) -- I will be proudly tying my lime green bandanas to the kids' strollers and be on the lookout for lime green elsewhere -- even if my dh thinks it's crazy! I know better -- I'm not crazy -- I'm just a part of the "club!"
