Can someone tell me which Wal Mart has the huge selection of Disney merchandise? We are staying at Pop Century and want to stop at Wal Mart on our way back from Universal to Pop Century.
In October we stopped at a Walmart on the way back to Disney from Universal one night as we needed to pick up something and discovered it had lots of Disney stuff. The center area of the store was filled with Disney themed clothes, bags, shoes, kid stuff, autograph books, etc.
Here is the address:
Walmart Supercenter
8990 Turkey Lake Road
Orlando, FL 32819
And the Super Target on 192, across from Publix and with an Olive Garden in the parking lot, has an enormous Disney souvenir section as well. I can't compare as I didn't go to the Walmart, but it was huge!
If you are on on the 4 heading back to WDW from Universal, you'll see Walmart on the right from the freeway. Just stay in the slow lane, and you will see it in enough time to pull off the highway.
At first I was leaning toward the Vineland Rd store because it is so huge, but now it seems the Turkey Lake store would be more convenient since it's right on the way back from Universal. Has anyone been to both and can say whether their Disney souvenir sections were comparable in size and selection? My preference would be to go to the Turkey Lake store for convenience, but if the Vineland Rd store has a considerably larger Disney section, we'll make the trip over there. We are going to Wal Mart SOLELY to check out the Disney souvenir section
When we went last year, we went to the Vineland store first and got our stuff, then we were at the Turkey Lake one later in the week, and I think they were roughly comparable. Hubby (the non-Disney fan) definitely felt they were comparable, and informed me we're only going to Turkey Lake this year. The caveat, though, is that we were only looking at clothes and mugs, so it may be there's a big difference if you're into other stuff.
We also collect Disney pins, but I'm pretty sure I didn't see those at either store. That, or none of them interested me, but it seems like there just weren't any.

Huh. We're heading out there next month, and maybe I should go without hubby this time and take more time looking. I agree that it's easy to get to, it was just out of the way for us.
In all my years of going to Disney I never realized these Wal-Marts had a Disney section. My question is are the items Disney priced or are they Wal-Mart priced???

Not true at all. (Central Floridian here). If you are on I-4 coming from Universal, (OP said they want to stop there on their way back from Universal) headed back to Disney....your next exit after the Walmart, will be for the 528 East to Cocoa (and the airport...and SeaWorld). If you're coming from Universal, the easist way to this Walmart is to just get on Turkey Lake Road going South, and follow it. It will be TONS easier. I typically access Turkey Lake over I-4 this way.
If you are coming from Disney; I'd say it'd be TONS easier to avoid the I-4 exit areas (which are typically full of tourists not knowing which way they are going). From DTD when you get to 535 Turn left out of WDW, and then Right on to Palm Parkway (the next light). ANd just follow that Road. Palm Parkway turns into Turkey Lake Road at Central Florida Blvd. WalMart will be on your left. Universal will be on your right a few more miles up the road.
