We are going to be in Epcot next month, and it will be our first time viewing Illuminations. Where is the best place to be to see it?

Ok you didnt hear this from me, but the one guy down the street, his neighbors neighbor mothers cousin aunt twice removed said to get a bottle of wine in Italy and enjoy it on the bridge since you get a little higher view. But you better get there early since it tends to fill up.

In the sky, silly!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Seriously, we've seen it about a half-dozen times and our preference was always right at the front of the World Showcase (as in, near the bridge to Future World.)

I'd personally avoid anything from the America Pavilion over to France / England. Maybe it's just me but every time we have seen the show, the wind was carrying the smoke over in that direction.

Stay away from where the wind is blowing and dont stand where your view is blocked from a tree. The hours that people spend to stake out a view are better spent "doing epcot". If you follow these two simple rules, you will see Illuminations in all its glory. Everybody has their favorite spot, but as soon as you list everybody's favorite spot, you may just come to the conclusion that I have given you.

The best advice that I can give is ANYWHERE upwind. Just check out what the wind direction is an hour or two before the show and go to the opposite side of the park.

The BEST time to see Illuminations is in the pouring rain. I kid you not !!! Two Decembers ago, I walked over to Epcot from the YC in torrential rain. I knew that Illuminations would still go on even though it was pouring. There was NOBODY in the park. I mean it was a ghost town. I stood all by myself in the VIP viewing area between England and France and watched the whole thing completely unobstructed and completely alone. It was like they showed Illuminations just for me. Incredible.

So if it rains, throw on a raincoat or bring and umbrella and go to Epcot. You'll be amazed.

Isn't it all pretty much up in the sky? I know they have the globe but it seems to me you could see that pretty much if you sat anywhere where there were not trees.

My favorite place to watch it is at one of the tables at the Catina in front of the Mexico pavillion with a nice margarita in hand!

True, but you really have to be careful about the trees. Many of the trees that surrond the lagoon really envelop the sky in the immediate vicinity. While the trunk of the tree may not block your view, the fireworks will be considerably obstructed by the leaves and branches if you are anywhere within a 6-8' diameter surrounding the trunk. As you walk along the railing in the World Showcase, you may be surprised at how few sites really have a good, unobstructed view of the sky.

Most places between the UK and Canada are fine, as is the area where World Showcase and Future World meet. I'd avoid Morocco, as the prevailing winds generally blow smoke and ash back that way.

Enjoy IllumiNations! It's my favorite nighttime show.

Sincerely,

Len

We really enjoyed the view from The UK. There is a little enclave that is sometimes roped off for handi capped seating or special groups. You can sit right outside the little roped area and enjoy the show!
