Where is Mayor Goofy?

I have a picture of my DDs from when they were four years old. They went all day long at the park and are climbing on the statue of Mayor Goofy (at least that's what we call him). It's Goofy sitting down on a bench with a top hat and suit. It was near city hall at the beginning of Main Street in magic kingdom.

Anyone know where this statue is located now? I have tried to find it again with no luck. I really want to recreate this picture with them now that they are almost 16.

If he is out, he would be there in front of Tony's. But he seems to disappear quite often, for what reason I do not know, maybe cleaning, painting, etc.

Here is the "Mayor" for anyone who hasn't seen him onstage.

I have seen reports from CMs that the bench is removed during Peak crowd weeks.

I have also heard he sometimes he "says" things,but he never has when I have sat by him.Is that true?

I have a pic of my kids with him from the year 2000. Lol, they were 2 & 7 then, 16 &21 now! We've never heard him talk but I also read that somewhere else.

My DD has the book about all the secrets in the WDW parks (sorry forgot the name of it) and in there it states that if you listen carefully, you will hear him talk. After she read that, we had to go and find him so that we could listen, but unfortunately he wasn't around because he was backstage getting a "sprucing up", according to the CM we talked to. However, the next trip we found him but did not hear him talk, don't know if it still talks on occasion, or if it doesn't work anymore. It does make for a great photo opportunity nevertheless .

He has been offstage for at least two months now. Hopefully he will be back soon.

It's been so long since we have seen him, hope he's back out for our trip in a few weeks. I didn't know about the talking either.

Last I saw, this bench was sitting backstage in between the Plan B Evacuation Gate by Buzz and the gate by Town Square Theater. It was out of the way, towards the leader's trailer and VIP golden football Mickey parking area.
