Can we see where your flight would be coming from if it is a connecting flight? We have a 8:50 am flight at PHL (SW)non-stop but with the weather throughout the country it could be delay elsewhere.

I think the best (only?) way to tell is to do a search for your connecting flight number.

So if your itinerary is flight 1234, then connecting to flight 5678, look at flightaware.com or other search engines for flight 5678 and see if it starts at another airport.

It's possible the plane is flight 456 going to your connecting airport, then becomes 5678 in which case I don't know how you'd track it down.

Check the arrivals board for flights arriving at the same gate. Some airlines (I'm familiar with AA) will list the inbound flight when you search for your flight status on their website.

You might be able to look up your flight number on flightaware.com. Check previous dates that it has flown, and somewhere on the right side of the page it *should* have a link to check where it's coming from. Of course, where it came from yesterday MIGHT be different than today, but it might be nice to see the trend in the past.

Checked with DH who is a pilot and he said SWA is one of the airlines that does not publish that info.

When you check the status of a flight some airlines websites have an option that you can check where the flight is coming from. It doesn't look like SWA does that. That is maybe what the PP meant when she said SWA does not publish that. A 3rd party site, like flightaware, may be privy to that information however.

If it is a continuing flight it is easy just check the flight number

If not if you can see the week before you can look at the gate your flight flew out of an look for the last flight that flew into that gate before that. Not full proof, but has worked for me in that past

This question has been asked here before and I believe you can call Southwest for this information.

Many questions have been asked before.......if the same questions weren't being asked, over and over, there would be little need for these boards. Most of us have no issue repeating ourselves. It's what we do, happily.:thumbsup2

Why would you assume my post was a criticism? My point was this question was asked before and I recall someone familiar with the issue posted that you can call Southwest and ask.

:sad2:

Because of the way it was worded. If it had been worded this way...'You're not the first one with this issue. This has been asked about before. According to those posts, you should be able to call SW and find out' or something to that effect.
I apologize if I took your post in a way you didn't mean it the way it sound. However, don't much care for the 'sad eyes' smilie...just saying.

Very well said. I too don't mind answering a question that has been asked before.

And for the record Flightaware does not post SWA tracker info. anymore :(
