Was that the ticket booth where you would buy your E, D etc tickets? I vaguely remember it from my '76 trip.

Yes, if you wanted more tickets than those offered in the admission packet, you could purchase them from that booth. In later years, when A-B-C-D-E tickets were no longer used, film was sold at the booth.
