I have been reading a lot of posts about wearing themed t-shirts for your trips...i have been trying to shop on lone to look for t-shirts for the whole family - but it looks like it could get quite expensive!

Where do you all get your t-shirts? and how do you keep it from getting over the top expensive?

For our first trip, I bought shirts and fabric and a family friend made the appliqué Mickey heads on the shirts. I made the bleach shirts. For our second trip, I bought the kids each a shirt with an appliquéd Mickey head in Star Wars fabric from a seller on Etsy. So for the first trip the kids each had two shirts, and the last one they had one new one and the two from the previous trip.

A lot of people on here make there own shirts. There are people on here who are so wonderful and will make the designs for you! You just print off the image and iron on! You can also buy your own shirts and then buy iron ons or appliqué patches from places like Etsy or eBay.

WOW - THANKS! i think i am going to have to figure out a way to make my own - it seems rather expensive to buy already made ones, lol....although when i will fit that into the schedule is beyond me! i also thought about just maybe doing the same color shirt each day...that might be easier for us, lol...

going to look for some iron ons now!

where do you find the people on here that will make the designs? is it a particular forum or something?

thanks so much!

I am not so crafty. Lol I found a bunch on sale - disney store. Target and Old Navy always have cute stuff too. I didn't find many identical shirts but one day we wore Mickey / Minnie. Toy Story another day...

Khols was the best place for me! Online only...but got them for around $6 each. Cute too!

Don't stress about matching shirts. Yes, they are cute, but we'd rather spend the money elsewhere!

If you are looking for a source of cheap, undecorated tee shirts, try ACMoore or Michael's. I know ACMoore's go on sale for 4/$10 sometimes. I bought our shirts there when we were m&ms for MNSSHP. They have some very sturdy stick-on felt squares. You could use different colored shirts for each park, and cut mickey heads from the felt squares and stick them on the shirts. Use black felt squares on a red shirt for your MK day, Leopard print on a black shirt for AK day, dark blue sparkle felt on light blue shirts for the Studios, and some kind of tie-dye felt square for Epcot day (they have red-white-blue)... or something like that.

Those are great ideas! I am thinking we don't want to match exactly but just kinda "go together" that kinda thing

I still haven't had a chance to try them, but I bought iron ons from Amy. If you search google for Amy's Iron Ons, it's the top result. She is active here on the DIS. I purchased iron ons from her and they came very quickly. From what I've heard from others, they are a really good quality iron on, better than what you get at the store.

I have our designs all made for when we can take our trip, but our trip keeps getting pushed back and I didn't want to make the shirts until we were going in case I change my mind about designs. I just made some in photoshop but you could use any free program like paint.net or gimp to do it as well.

I bought t-shirts for us at Walmart, they were $3-4 shirts/each for DH and me and then a pack of white Hanes for DS. Though since our trip keeps getting pushed back, I may have to get another pack for him before we go since he's closer to a 3T now than a 2T and I wanted them large on him. At least I've been able to use the shirts I bought as PJ tops in the mean time.

There are lots of wonderful designers on facebook and there are even custom clothes groups where you can find great resells. We also buy a lot on etsy, but be sure to check their feedback before buying.

We don't match usually, but I buy my son custom tees for each park! :) I like the applique tees best! They last longer and wash up better.

I haven't been able to figure out etsy, lol
i don't think i want us to match exactly - maybe the same color or something so we can find each other....it seems that way would be easier to spot each other if we got separated...and the pictures would look more fluent....

I would definitely recommend etsy for custom tshirts for disney. I have ordered a few iron on transfers along with ordering some custom made shirts. They look great!! There are some people that will design the iron on transfers and then you can print them at home with the transfer paper which can save a little money. Not sure if you have a Michael's by you but right now there shirts are half off, only $1.99. The sale ends tomorrow though FYI. I am not a crafty person but I just made some mickey tie dyed t shirts for my family and they turned out awesome! :) Even my husband said they are pretty cool.:goodvibes. You said that you were having trouble figuring out etsy... when you go on their website just search "disney shirts" and a million different designs will show up. Good luck!!
