Where have my Yak & Yeti egg rolls gone?

The Yak & Yeti’s outdoor counter service has saved me more than once at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Quick, not too expensive, and tasty too. My favorite treat? The side of egg rolls. You got two, and at a reasonable price.

So imagine my shock on a recent jaunt to Animal Kingdom’s Asia section to discover the menu has changed — and the egg rolls are gone. (But french fries are in?)

The shock was almost as bad as when Disney changed the recipe for the Citrus Swirl in the Magic Kingdom’s Adventureland. I still haven’t gotten over that one.

It looks like the Yak & Yeti counter-service menu is trying to offer more variety in its complete meals, maybe to help out with bigger summer crowds when there can be long waits for food.

But all I know is no cup of french fries is going to replace my favorite Animal Kingdom snack: crisp egg rolls with the spicy sauce.

Yikes tell me it is not fries?

Where or where is the egg roll!

I stopped there on our trip in May thinking that a side of egg rolls and fried rice would be the perfect snack for my family. I was too shocked to see no egg rolls listed on the menu. I even asked the cashier if I was missing something, but she said no, they had been removed. I was a bit disappointed, but we had our fried rice and moved on. I would love to see them come back though. Fries I can get almost anywhere on Disney property, egg rolls? -- not so much. At least they are a different snack when touring.

Yep I think that nasty Yeti came down & ripped them off the menu :scared1: I was there recently and couldn't believe it either...some things should just be left alone :sad1:

Just another example of Disney's trend towards standardized menus in recent years.

Usually, I would agree with your point. In this case, I'm glad to see any change. In my experience, the Yak & Yeti counter service location is pretty unappetizing. Maybe this new menu is for the better.

I had the egg rolls there in April but they were AWFUL!. I had had them last Sept. and my memory was that they were pretty good. I don't know if they changed them between those visits, but consider yourself lucky that the 'new' version is no longer on the menu.

:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

I love the veggie eggrolls! During my visit in May, I found them at a kiosk on the path between Asia and Africa- not too far from Flights of Wonder.

Yak & Yeti isn't operated by Disney, and I don't know how much influence Disney has over their menu. A lot probably, as they're inside a Disney park. They're also on the dining plan.

wdwinfo still lists the egg rolls in the Yak and Yeti CS menu.

Is the main entree menu at Yak and Yeti different than what's listed at wdwinfo also?

Wow. After taking a look at that revised menu, I can now confirm that we will not be hitting Yak & Yeti's on our upcoming August trip. I LOVED the shrimp lo mein, kung pao beef and mango pie, and now I see that ALL MY THREE favorites are GONE from the menu, on top of the yummy crispy egg rolls!?! That sucks! :sad2:

And to top it off, the only other decent CS place in AK, Flame Tree BBQ, will be closed during our trip! I guess we'll eat lunch somewhere else when we go to AK (either AKL's food court, DTD or just our resort when we get back to cool off in the pool).

Definitely makes the CS experience even less enjoyable in AK
