My apologies if this is old news . . . I just heard from a source in Disney marketing that Year of a Million Dreams will be rolled out to Paris and Tokyo next year, under the slogan, "When Dreams Come True" (instead of YOMD). Anybody else heard this, or seen any press on the subject? I honestly don't know whether this is already well-known.

It'll be interesting to see how it plays out overseas. I also haven't heard anything about whether Hong Kong's involved, but it sounds like not.

It's not when — It's where. At Disneyland Paris, the slogan on the official DLP website is "The place where dreams come true."

The name of the "celebration" and giveaway promotion in California and Florida is "The year of a Million Dreams," and the tag line is "the place where dreams come true." So you'll see both phrases.

From the press release at http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/060929/clf065.html?.v=2

"Disney cast members have a rich history of making this magic, treating guests to legendary service and special moments," Rasulo said. "During 'The Year of a Million Dreams,' those moments go stratospheric as our cast members reinforce Disney parks as the place where dreams come true."

Ah, thanks for the typo correction -- I fixed it in the post title.

Has anybody found info about the Paris and Tokyo versions online? I'm curious to know how all the language will change given the various legal requirements of different countries (ie, what amusing equivalents there might be to the Canadian math test requirement). Also, the US version has been criticized for its restrictions on which nations' citizens can win the big prizes, and I wonder what similar structures will be in place outside the US.

Boy, color me HUGELY interested in this!! Kitty-chan, when you heard 'next year,' do you know if that meant January 2007, or more towards October, when they seem to change campaigns?

My understanding is that the new campaign will be tied to the anniversaries of DLP (15th anniversary in April 2007) and DLT (25th anniversary in April 2008). So I'm guessing "next year" probably means spring 07 at the latest, for Paris at least, so they'd have it in place for the first of those two anniversaries.

I'm guessing they might launch the two campaigns separately, since Tokyo and Paris probably draw their visitors from pretty different geographic areas (and since the various legal sweepstakes requirements will vary for the two locations), but that's just a speculation on my part.
