Our daughter sleeps in her own bed, and stays there (she is 6), but when she was a little one, she often slept on the floor next to our bed.
It got to the point where we kept her inflatable travel bed set up for here to come in in the middle of the night.
We never sent her back to her own bed... we figured if it made her feel safe and secure, it was just fine.
She grew out of it last year... but Ihave to tell you, it was darn cute to find her there in the mornings.

She got so bruised up that I pulled her mattress out on the floor one night and laid with her told her it was okay this was her bed now and she cried a bit and I went back in laid down with her and she went to sleep. After 2 nights I moved it back up on the crib frame converted to toddler bed and a week later she was in her twin on her own at 19 months. Seems early but she was ready.
