I've been on the DIS since 2005 when planning my first adult trip with my husband to WDW. I've learned so much since my first fateful days on the DIS however there is one subject that has eluded me:

Pin codes.

Where do you/how do you get them?

I am planning a September 2010 trip and would really like (like everyone else) to get free dining if it is offered.

Thanks:thumbsup2

I have been over 20 times, had several annual passes, ordered planning DVD's every year, and I have never gotten one! :headache:

There is no rhyme or reason who gets them, they are random. Make sure you are registered on the WDW site and all the sister sites. I just started getting them about a year ago and I think I have only been able to use one, my AP rate is usually better.

No rhyme or reason here either. I got a PIN yesterday but it was for an Adventures by Disney package. :sad1:

Have they released AP rates yet for October? I am considering buying one if it helps the rate.

Registering for all the Disney Websites and ordering the Disney Planning DVD increases your chances greatly. Make sure Disney has your correct e-mail and home address. Good Luck!

I have never been able to get a pin until last month! I have tried for years!!!! I ordered DVD's every year, registered for all the Disney sites, you name it. I decided to try something new someone suggested to me. I went to the WDW website and did 2 things.

1. I priced a trip for our family and saved it. A trip that included tickets, dining and airfare. The works! I did a value resort and a deluxe. I went back later and looked at my saved offers.

2. Went to the part of the website that offers free maps of the parks that you can customize and have them printed and mailed to you (I did all of the parks). I did not print my own!!!

Before my maps arrived, I received a pin in my inbox. I screamed at the sight of it and my hubby ran upstairs, thinking something was wrong! I scared the poor guy half to death!

Not sure if it was random or not, just thought I'd share what I did. The maps were so neat btw! My kids love them.

I have gotten several but alas, don't get to use them. I am registered on the website, and enter different dates and vacation plans. I always price out an entire package. If a survey comes up after asking why I don't book, I always mark that it is too expensive. Maybe that will help. Good luck.

I wonder if the trick is to only go sporadically - I've been once in 10 yrs, - but since we booked in 2008 we've gotten a pin code about once every other month or so. The funny part we didn't get a PIN code for when we were going (luckily we hit the 4/3 deal) :confused3

I have been doing the saving trips, registering emails for me, my husband, me with my maiden name :rotfl:, ordering vacation cd's etc. NO PINS!!! Someone mentioned to me that they are sent out based on a number of criteria, location, frequency of visits etc.

Just have to say that is one of the best thread titles I have seen:lmao:

I have received quite a few pin codes, what I usually do is goto the disneyworld site and plan the vacation, then I leave it there for a few days (they usually email me with pics of the resort and info) I then go back to the site through the link in the email. Once the online help popup comes up I click on it and when they ask me if I have any questions or need help I ask if there are any unpublished deals.

I did it just a few weeks ago and got the free quick service dining pin code. However whenever I do get a pin I always book it, so they might see it as an easy sell.

No, they just released the discounts for June 4 thru Aug 14. I don't think buying an AP will help in the rate, but they are so worth it, at least for us.

We have been 12 times in the last 5 years and just started getting code in 2009.

From the PIN code Gods! :worship:

After about 6 years of going regually we have not been since 2008 because of unemployment...wouldn't you know we got one!...and COULD NOT USE IT!

I think that the Pin Code God must be hanging out with the Tag Fairy because I never got either!
