Does anyone know where the Magic docks when it goes to Antigua? I would like to find a day pass at a beach hotel but don't want to be totally on the other side of the island from the ship.

We are booked on the October 2nd Magic cruise and we are taking our 4 year old grandson. In case we can' go to the beach on CC we want to take Nicholas to the beach on Antigua if possible - but not a 5 hour shore excursion.

Thanks!

All cruise ships that visit Antigua dock in or near the town of St. John's. There isn't much going on in St. John's, it's a rather icky town if you ask me. There is a small shopping mall at the dock, that is o.k., but nothing to write home about. Most of the resorts on Antigua are all-inclusives and won't sell day passes, since they include everything. If they did, they'd be rather expensive, since they would also include food and alcohol. The closest beach is Dickinson Bay, but all of the resorts there are all-inclusives, and it's still about 20 minutes or so away. You are better off going on a DCL excursion in Antigua. We stayed there, and there is security at each entrance to the resorts, to limit people coming in, since Antigua does have a high crime rate. There are also people manning the beach entrances to the resorts. Most of the other beaches on Antigua are a good distance from the port.

Hi Adella,
I thought someone on the Antigua 10/2 Cruise Meets thread had found a couple of all-inclusive's that had day pass options. If you post your question there they may be able to help.

I have been to Antiqua and was not impressed. The beaches were beautiful, but the locals are a bit aggressive. Kind of like Mexico, everyone trying to make a sale. You will find yourself saying no thank you a lot!! I say go with a DCL sponsored excursion also.

Take a taxi to Runway or Run a way Beach. The locals know it. Great beach, changing rooms etc., bar and beach chairs. We had a great time. I ditto the comment about being like Mexico but the locals were nice. The town is dirty but the beaches are wonderful. Lets hope Ivan stays away. Kathy
