Where do your tween daughters shop?

DD is 11 and there is a slim chance in H E double hockey sticks that she would step foot in Justice. It doesn't matter anyhow, because she outgrew their clothes about 2 years ago!

We are currently stuck on Aero, Hollister, American Eagle and Abercrombie. She has ventured over to Rue 21 recently and has found some really cute T's and tanks there. She knows my limits on shorts and low cut shirts and she does a really good job of picking out her clothes. I usually just go to Pier Park (local outdoor mall), head to Borders (who is closing :( ) and let her and her friends shop 'til they drop, because I am NOT a shopper!

She IS NOT a girly girl though, AT ALL! She does wear bows in her hair that are matched to whatever she is wearing, but she isn't a pink, sparkly girly girl! That went away about 3 years ago! Come to think of it, I can't think of a single one of her friends or school mates who dress girly girl!

:worship: Same here, we love the Goodwill. We shop at Plato's Closet when splurging.
DD does wear a uniform so school clothes are easy.

When she was 10 she liked Justice, now won't go near it.
She also likes Kohls

Add me as a Goodwill lover! DD12 is small and petite for her age and I think the Walmart and Target clothes in her size are too babyish. Obviously I don't let her wear trashy stuff or stuff too old for her, but neither do I think she needs to dress like a kindergartner. (did I spell that right?? lol)

She likes Aero and Old Navy, although I find Aero to run small (which works well for her since she is so little, and Old Navy to run big. I tend to push her away from Justice other than for shoes (she loves their funky styles) and makeup/jewelry/accessories.

However, since "brands" are a big thing in middle school (she is going into 7th) we shop at Goodwill ALOT! lol... We live in a pretty well off area and with 3 Goodwill stores within 15 miles of us (all in great areas) we have quite the selection of name brand stuff. (all of them are less than 4 years old, our local one is only a year old, so they are new and nice!)

I don't mind her wearing the "big" brands, but I won't pay full price for it. I have gotten her Silver jeans for $10, tons of wet seal shirts for under $3, aero jeans, abercrombie, hollister and North Face all at our local Goodwill's.

Our Goodwill's have sales every day (certain color tags each day are extra % off) and they have Toddler Thursday every week where ALL kids clothes and shoes are 50% off. What is really nice is that since the clothes I buy for dd there are small, they usually will ring them as at the kids price, even if they are not truly a kids item!

I do buy her these brands brand new IF I can find a great sale, if not, then we look at Goodwill and Plato's closet. My experience has shown that I can buy her something brand new and once it's worn and washed 2 or 3 times, it doesn't look any different than something that was bought used (and in decent condition). And plus since she is so small, I'm hoping that growth spurt will kick in at any minute and I don't want to be stuck with outgrown clothes that I spent a fortune on.

I've got a 10 year old and a 14 year old.

The ten year old went through a mercifully brief period when she was 8 of liking Justice, which I loathe (expensive, ugly, cheaply made), but wouldn't set foot in there now. She is very petite, but is starting to develop, and she's going to be hard to fit.

Aero, American Eagle, Hollister and Abercrombie are popular for her age group. I actually like Aero a lot. They have great clearance and sales, and a lot of their stuff isn't hootchie-mama. I can get her tops there, but she's too short for their jeans. AE is more expensive.

Hollister and Abercrombie are places we choose not to spend money because of their business practices, which annoys the kids to no end. I buy the 10 year old a lot of stuff (jeans especially) from JCPenney, which isn't trendy or popular, but which fits her, is cute and is a decent value. They have great clearance. I also get some stuff from Delia's.

The 14 year old just informed me that all the clothes she wanted last year with the brands splashed all over them, like Aero and AE, are now passe and she doesn't like them. :lmao: Since we don't buy an entirely new wardrobe every year, that's such a shame.

She would like all her clothes to come from Forever 21 or Wet Seal. Not happening. In addition to being mostly inappropriate, a ton of Forever 21 stuff is dry clean only. Sorry, but I'm not dry cleaning tops for the kids to wear to school. She also likes Delia's, which is OK with me.

Both my girls have always loved Justice, although when DD16 was still wearing those clothes, they were still Limited Too and not quite as hoochy-mama. I didn't mind their clothes so much then, but now.... :scared1:

DD11 still loves sparkly things (I think that child takes "The whole world is a stage" to heart); but she is in the bigger sizes now and she is seeing that the clothes in those sizes look more immature than she feels. Yay because I didn't have to change her mind for her, she did it herself! :woohoo:

We shop a lot at the typical teen stores: AE, Hollister, Forever 21, etc. and since DD11 fits in those sizes and DD16 & DS are already shopping there, DD11 wants stuff from there like her sibs. Luckily, our Goodwill is great with name brands, plus some consignment stores, etc., so I save $$ that way, thank goodness.

I am a huge fan of Old Navy, TJ Maxx and Marshall's. I usually hit these first before I ever attempt the mall.

I hate this age. Clothes are important and so many girls buy into the whole "this is the RIGHT brand to wear" nonsense. DD12 is currently wearing Abercrombie, Holister, and juicy couture (yuk). I will say the clothes are better made than Justice (which she will not go into).

BTW, she actually would prefer to be be wearing nothing but black from Hot Topic, but her current social "role" will not allow this. I hate middle school with a passion!

I have NO idea where we will be shopping for DD's (12) school clothes this year! We did get a couple pairs of jeans at Aero because they fit DD well from there, but otherwise, she is SO NOT girly AT ALL, and now doesn't like/have to have the "in" brands like Hollister, Abercrombie, AE, etc) She sounds like your DD and prefers to wear black, lots of concert Ts, etc. Think "artsy". She likes black, grey, dark blue, and occasionally red. :rotfl:
When they had their 6th grade "graduation" this year, she was the only girl to NOT wear a dress. She still looked very nice in dressy black capris and a jacket. The other girls teased her, but she prefers being "different".

I have no problem with DD10 - she shops in the boys department. She likes long basketball shorts and oversized t-shirts. I can do all of her school shopping at Kohl's in one fell swoop!

DD11 is more girly - but not frilly. She likes close-fitting but not revealing tops and jeggings or leggings. She doesn't yet like jeans. I think she is on the cusp of caring that what she is wearing is the same as everyone else, so although she picked a few things out of the Justice catalogue, I am having her hold out a little bit to make sure what she picks out will actually be what she wants to wear once school starts.

I have had good luck in the past finding layering tees on sale on line at A&F and Aeropastale.

This is a tough year shopping for my daughter- she is 11 -going into 7th grade--she cant fit into the jeans at aero so she still gets her jeans at justice (she is a size 8/10) but she would not be caught dead in any of the other pants or shirts there- just those tight skinny jeans!
She likes Hot Topic, Aero, Abercrombie, American Eagle, Holister for shirts. We tried Kohls for pants and she said she felt like a little kid trying on her moms clothes when she was trying on the jeans LOL...they are not skin tight like Justices jeans so she is not used to that feeling and didn't like it!

All of my girls love trendy clothes, and they really think justice is too babyish for them. My two younger girls like old navy, abercrombie kids, and aero kids. They are on the small side (7 slim and 8 slim) and like form fitting, layered clothing. If a shirt is too big, they use an elastic to make it smaller. They are very slim and muscular, and have excellent posture, and the clothing they wear makes them look fit, not sexy.

Unfortunately (well I suppose it will be good as she gets older) my DD12 is very muscular (sports) and NOT slim. I have to be very careful what she wears because she can really look much older and "sexy" without really noticing.

My DD10 (soon to be 11) loves the outfits/shoes I get her from Land's End. She's a skirt lovin girly-girl, so she doesn't care for trendy. They have quality clothing and really good sales, so this is where I shop almost exclusively.

My DD likes the Brand Epic Threads at Macy's.

Lucky you! I think Land's End has adorable, well made kids clothing but I have had zero luck getting either of my girls to like a single thing they sell.

Now DS13; complete opposite. Not having LE. He, of course, loves expensive, trendy name brands, but most of the time gets Ross, Kohls, Tar-che', Vans ...we mix it up to keep costs down. I tell him, "I sure hope you become a millionaire, cause you've got caviar dreams on cheese & cracker budget!" :rotfl:

I just got back from the mall and we went into Justice to pick of a bathing suit for dd. There were tons of girls in there, they looked about 10/11. I honestly don't think I've ever seen it so busy.
We also stopped in Aero, and I noticed alot more younger girls than older ones in there too. Maybe its just that I'm getting old and everyone looks young

Right now - Justice. But that will probably end with oldest by end of year. I can still get away with Children's Place for jeans. Kohl's, Macy's (sales only) and Target work too.

I am so not ready for American Eagle and Aeropostale. :lmao:

:rotfl2: 77 kids (AE for kids) and PS (aero's kids) I'm fine with. I'm resisting Justice with every ounce of my being though. :confused3

My 11(12 in Oct) daughter was into Justice and PS Aeropostale until the last year or so.
She's too big(she's 5'2") for PS now. Last year she got a lot of shirts at Delia's.
I just went shopping for her and got her jeans and a few shirts at Aero and a bunch of shirts at Hollister and Abercrombie(on sale-she gets the names, I get to pay much less-they had very good sales!)
She is definitely a jeans and hoodie/tshirt kind of girl though. Skirts and dresses about 2 or 3 times a month.
