Where do you think Disney Dropped the Ball

Hey everyone,

I have a question for anyone who would like to participate. I love Disney as much as the next Disney Geek, but there have been areas where I feel they have dropped the ball. Whether it is a ride, restaurant or other. Where do you think Disney dropped the ball.

The one thing that comes to mind for me is: Kali River Rapids in Animal Kingdom. I usually love these water raft rides, but felt this one was lacking in everyway e.g. themeing, thrills and fun. It seemed like it was done in a rush. Very non-Disney.

What areas do you feel Disney let you down.

And by the way, I use the term Disney Geek in the most positive way.

I have two words... MISSION SPACE. :scared1: it was NOT! More like :bored: . I was so disappointed with his ride! I guess I was expecting too much from it, but after hearing all the stories about astronauts vomiting after riding it, I was READY for one heck of a ride! What a disappointment! I guess if a "million dollar gravitron" is what they were going for, they succeeded. I'd just as well go to the carnival down the block though ... much cheaper! Rumors are that they had to minimize the G-force after it made so many people sick. But I think they should have left it, with big fat warnings..The do provide vomit bags, afterall :crazy2: .... Oh Well. :rolleyes2 Million Dollar Gravitron or not, I do enjoy those suits the CM's have to wear, I'm not gonna lie....

I agree about Kali Rapids--could have been so much better with a little more effort and $$$.
Biggest letdown--closing things like Horizons, World of Motion, etc in favor of attractions like Mission Space, etc

Stitch! A total waste of $$. Hopefully it'll get shut down and be made more kid friendly. It was a real disappointment and definately not up to Disney standards!

The closing of Bonfamille at Port Orleans. We always thought that it was one of Disney best themed restaurants. We looked forward to eating there a couple of times each trip. Sadly, Disney thought differently. :sad1:

I wouldn't call it disappointment, but I've always thought Disney could have done more with MGM Studios. Not sure what exactly, maybe a couple rides for smaller kids or a couple attractions based on some of their newer movies or something. Even though I love Disney Studios, I always felt like something was missing there, but I can't quite put my finger on what. I do know they never should have taken the Imagineers and real animation production out of there.

What lets me down is that they closed RIVER COUNTRY. I was lucky enough to go there a few times as a kid, and LOVED it!

They dropped the ball by not having coffee makers or, even worse, hair dryers in the rooms at the Value resorts. I mean, a $30 crummy room at a cheesy motel will probably have those two things. For a company that caters to its customers in so many ways, those two little details should have been givens in their planning.

I don't like the procedure of moving everyone around at a show. Several times we have gotten there early enough to get good seats, only to be moved by CMs making room for late arrivals, who GOT OUR GOOD SEATS. I don't know the answer, I'm sure stepping over others wouldn't be any better.

The 2 updates to Journey Into Imagination and the Image Works. What were they thinking????

I think the way Pocahontas and the Lion King shows at AK have the same queing area is odd. There are times you can't move in that area. I wonder why they did that? :(

I say Kali river rapids and STICH...(what? did they not know what to do with alien and didn't want to use $$$$ to make the ride better? that is a dissapointment)

I saw a special on the Travel Channel about AK. They said they made KRR the way they did to send out a message that man is burning down forests, etc. Hence the fire and things looking generally crappy. I, for one, love KRR.

You know, I agree with that. I have thought, sometimes, at the end of the day at MGM that we forgot to do something that we had intended to do, but then I can't think what it was. After checking everything out, I realize that is it just a feeling of something undone at that park, I guess.

I also agree with the Imagineer thing. There was something magic about touring the park and thinking that the Imagineers were just in the next building creating something wonderful. You were right in the middle of how Walt began it all.

I don't know what MGM needs....maybe it does need more kid-type rides (based on movies to maintain the theme.) I know that people will say it's not that type of park, but we know that kids are coming, so let's make them happy.

We refuse to move if it means being in a bad seat. For example, at Candlelight Processional, we had great seats and they wanted us to move over and have a tree in front of us. No way. Let the latecomers sit there, we'll stand up so they can pass.

Another vote for Kali... that is no longer a must do. In fact, the only time it was a must do was our first time.

I'm concerned at the general "cheapifying" of the newer rides - Aladdin, DinoLand (minus Dinosaur, of course), Pooh - they all just *look* cheap, like something I could find on the midway at my local county fair. Part of the magic is in the theming of the queue areas, too, and that seems to be diminishing as well. I'd rather have fewer rides done well, with real, unique Disney magic, than more rides that could be seen anywhere.

Gotta agree. As much as we love all things disney, this is our least favorite park.
