Where do you like to sit on an airplane?

I like sitting immediately in front of the wing, right along the front edge, where you can still see down out the window. Smoother flight.

Gimme an aisle seat anywhere on the plane -- front, back, middle -- I don't mind.

We used to like sitting as close to the front as possible...same reason as most others...to get off ASAP. However, we've had a few dreadful flights sitting near badly behaved little kids (and parents), so we kind of take a look around and see who's up front, and then move on toward the back if necessary.

Window seat, immediately ahead of the wing. I like to see the slats deploy, and the thrust reversers go into action. Also, the closer you get to the wing the easier the bank angles are to take -- you're at the fulcrum point as opposed to being at either end.

Worst seat = last row.

Best Seat = First Class!

Preferably, Window Seat in First Class.

Unfortunately, I will have to relinquish that seat to DH when we travel to my cousin's wedding b/c I have to get up and go to the restroom so often now a days. It sad when you book first class to have an extra bathroom avaliable to you...

ETA: We use to like emergency row until we had an emergency landing. Now, I would NEVER want that responcibility.

We like to sit either on or right in front of the wing. DS's and I like to watch the flaps and all that stuff move, and you can still see the ground below.

I'm surprised at the number of people who say they LIKE sitting in the emergency exit row. I know there is more leg room, but I'm with you.

My husband and I were on a flight last week that ended up making an emergency landing, and the flight attendant had to spend time explaining to the people sitting in the exit row how to open the doors. One guy panicked and she had him move to another row. That flight convinced me that I will NEVER sit in that row.

Some people mentioned they like to watch the flaps and whatnot on the wings, but I've changed my mind about that, too! The wing flaps on our plane malfunctioned and we had to land at a high rate of speed because the flaps weren't able to slow the plane down. It was a horrible experience. :(

I usually like to sit a bit in front of the wings and by a window.

I do NOT want the window. I like the shade closed, it helps my fears.

DH sits in aisle, I get middle. just the way it is. ;)

We have had some terrible exit row seats (bulk heads) so skip those these days. the bulk head seats suck for tall people.

we are flying 1st class to MCO in April. looking forward to that. we are using miles. :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

Not over the wing but any other seat where I can sit by the window and look out is fine with me.

Me, too ::yes::. I love looking out at the sky and down at the land.

I tend to fly Southwest, which is great because I can choose who I set near and next to. For long flights, I'm looking for aisle (so I can get up and walk around), for short flights a window to look out of. Other than the window/aisle thing, I just find an area of the plane with no groups that look noisy (children, school groups, frat boys, etc.) and sit by people who look small and quiet.

Last time I had to fly non-Southwest, I pre-selected an exit-row window seat. Unfortunately, the guy next to me turned out to be well over 300lbs. Kinda negated any extra room from being in an exit row. Just emphasized that I prefer picking which people to sit next to more than picking a specific part of the plane.

I don't care where exactly I am in the plane, but I think I've decided I prefer aisle over window. Granted, I enjoy looking out the window (if there's anything to see), but I don't like stressing about disturbing the person next to me when I have to (frequently) get up and go to the bathroom thanks to all the free drinkies. ;)

Of course, if it's a friend or family next to me, I don't mind disturbing them, so I'll take window, please!

I love sitting at the back of the plane. I will intentionally pick the aisle seat of the very last row. I have NEVER had a problem on a plane with any kind of smell from being that close to the bathroom. I don't doubt that some people have, but I guess the airlines that I've flown with take good care of the bathrooms and empty regularly.

- If you're flying with an airline that loads in groups (aside from Southwest) then once they're on to the regular cattle they usually load the back of the plane first. This means that I don't have to worry about not having room in the overhead bin for my stuff because some idiot sitting in row 22 stopped at my seat in 12 and decided to stow his stuff there because it's easier for him to grab on the way out but takes up any space available for my stuff.

- If you're flying with luggage then really it doesn't much matter where in the plane you are. I'm always amazed at the people who will push and shove their way off a plane (and I've watched it happen many times) so that they can rush to the luggage carousel and...wait. I can wait there, or I can spend another 5 minutes waiting to deplane. Either way I'm still waiting.

- As you can see most other people don't like to sit at the back of the plane. This means that the front/middle of the plane will fill up much faster than the back. I rarely have anyone in the middle seat beside me on a flight, because they'd all rather sit in a middle seat in the first X rows than right at the back. Fine by me, gives me much more room.

- And as someone else once told me, you never hear of a plane backing into a mountain.

Anywhere....as long as the plane is still on the ground! If it's going up, I'm outta there! :teeth:

I like an aisle seat over the wing. Usually a steadier flight that way *knock on wood*

I always sit in the first seat on the isle. either left or right. I always seem to take 757's. and sometimes it is first class.....does not matter. I just have to sit there :coffee:

Me too. This is where I always wind up, even if I am the 1st-15th Person to board. :thumbsup2
