Where do you hide Santa?

O.K., in the last house that we lived in I had a closet in my bedroom that measured 16 x 8 and locked. This new house has closets, but not big ones. It's not that bad hiding presents from the little ones still because I have pulled down the night shades on my camper and hide all the presents in there. Santa wraps everything here (believe me, if I knew I was going to raise 6 kids, I never would have started that tradition), so every night, after the kids are asleep, I go out to the camper, turn on Christmas music and start wrapping. I was just thinking, where and how do people do it that have limited space? It's not easy hiding anything from 1 child much less 6! I need some good places so maybe I could sneak things in before Christmas Eve because it takes so many trips to and from the camper. The attic is out of the question because the access to that is right in the middle of the hall, outside everyone's bedroom. We live down south so a basement (which I would love) does not exist. I think I am stuck with the camper and hoping I remember to lock it at night because if they decided to plunder during the day and open the camper door....... :earseek: the gig is up!

In our house, Santa either stays in the basement, the attic (which is unfinished so the kids don't go there anyway) or at one time Santa came with me to the office.

Although I don't have any kids, Santa has occasionally stashed presents for my neices and nephews in our garage. Especially the big ones like playhouses and bikes and drum sets <G>.

In my basement in cardboard boxes among the cardboard boxes already there ;)

What!??

You mean Santa isn't real????

Oh, Santa is real... he just doesn't have time to come by on Christmas Eve anymore. There are more than 6 billion people in the world, you know!;)

So, Mommy and Daddy go to the North Pole to visit Santa, give him the kids' list (which Santa checks twice) and then Santa gets the elves to bring the toys from the factory to Mommy and Daddy's minivan which Mommy and Daddy then take home and hide from the kids because Santa made Mommy and Daddy promise not to give it to the kids until Christmas.

Since this is our first year getting to have Santa at our house, Santa has taken up residence at my parents house in my old room! It is really nice since my parents live just down the hill from us! ;)
I know when I was a kid Santa lived at the next door neighbors garage! And the funny thing was I used to be in the very garage every sat night going skating and had no clue!!

Wrapped Christmas presents are hidden under a big blanket on my closet floor and come Nov/Dec my room is off limits. I try and wrap each gift as I buy them. This is the first year my youngest knows who really sets out those presents on Christmas eve. I don't know whether to sigh with relief or cry. :( I wanted my baby to believe for awhile longer. She'll be 10 in Feb. I guess it couldn't last forever. She has assured me she does believe, but I know she is just trying to make me feel better.

I remember when we had an attic- I'd go up there every night and wrap while I talked on the phone to my sisters.... Wow time flies! That was 15 years ago. :hyper:

I wrap presents while the kids are not watching, and they are not allowed to touch the closet.
You could rent a storage space for one month.

I hide Kaseys down the basement behind the bar! The past few years my neighbor would take her for a few hours so I could wrap them all (I hate gifts under the tree not wrapped..its so much more fun for the kids to have to open them up and not just see them all in one big open bunch)....this year I will wrap them all Thanksgiving week while I am on vacation and she is at school....anyrthing really big would get stored in the neighbors garage...when her kids were growing up their gifts were stored at my house!

Hmmmm....this one has always puzzled me.

My little brother has always been able to find his stuff stashed in Mom and Dad's closet, but mine is always missing.

And she has twice as many to hide since my birthday if 5 days before. I'm thinking my grandmother's house.......

DSs presents get hidden in my wardrobe closet next to my dresser. I put them on the bottom and cover w/a blanket.
Others are on top of the closet. I believe I may have a few in my reg closet on top shelf.
When DS was younger alot was hidden over by our well in the unfinished part of the cellar.

Santa hides all his presents in my attic. Which is a pain for me, because on Xmas eve when dd is asleep, I have to go up there and get them, and the door squeaks. At night when the house is sooo quiet, that squeak is sooooooooo loud.

So am I the only one who thought of "The Nightmare Before Christmas"?

Kidnap Mr. Sandy Claws...

My mom used to stash Santa in the TRUNK of her car!!! That was the ONLY place she felt they were safe. :magnify: Little did she know.. :rolleyes1

until I couldn't find him anymore! Now he temporarily hides in plastic bags in my bedroom closet, until DDs go to their dad's. Then, he goes up in the attic. I think DDs have caught on, especially since DD15 has her bedroom as a finished part of the attic (Santa hides in the eaves, behind closed doors). Just this past weekend, he went into the attic in a large black garbage bag to discourage visitors. Nothing can be wrapped until the weekend before Xmas, since we have to be sure 3 DDs (15,11,2)have pretty equal piles of presents....

Santa just puts stuff in our closets. Since our kids never go there anyway, they've never noticed them.

DH has been known to put things for me down in the basement since I can't get down there. (bad steps, bad knees) He's been known to put things inside the dryer & inside the boxes of decorations for various holidays. (each stored seperately) He stopped that, though, when he ended up not being able to give me my present at Easter because he'd forgotten where it was.

My closet is such a mess, that the kids are afraid to go in there, so I hide the presents there. I also used to keep some stuff in the trunk of my car ( not the big expensive presents). We live in a small cape cod house with no basement, so space is very limited.

Santa stays in our bedroom closet since the kids know they are not allowed in there!! :p

well I used to have a present trunk in my bedroom at the foot of the bed. It was great because I'd store birthday, etc. presents all year, then Santa would use it around Christmas. I never worried about it because my kids don't go in my bedroom for anything unless I'm in there and they're looking for me. One day a bunch of kids were over playing treasure hunt. Of course, one went into my bedroom, saw the trunk and really found treasure.

I tried the closet in plastic bags a couple years ago but I actually forgot one whole bag - mostly oldest dd's stuff. You should have saw her face when just about every present under the tree was for youngest dd. LOL - had to do some quick thinking. (not for big dd cause she knew I had them somewhere but for little dd sake). Pretended to go to closet for jacket to look outside thinking maybe Santa dropped something. Found the bag and said someone must have scared Santa during the night so hid in the closet and when he came out he dropped a bag (thank goodness dd7 (at the time) didn't ask why Santa kept all his presents in Walmart bags)
