where do you find the cancellation fee?

I know that when you make an ADR, there is a fee if you don't cancel the day before. But where do I find the cancellation policy?

(I'm not looking for what you know off the top of your head. I'm looking for where exactly it tells you on the website or app.)

After you choose an available time slot at a restaurant, you see this:
Your credit card is being used to guarantee this reservation. Please cancel your reservation within the location’s allotted cancellation period to keep from being charged.

But I went almost all the way through making a reservation, and it never said what the cancellation fee would be.

When I did a search on the Disney website, I found this under Dining Reservations - Frequently Asked Questions:
Restaurants offering advance reservations charge a per-person cancellation fee for reservations cancelled after the designated cancellation period, or for no shows. Each restaurant at the Walt Disney World® Resort maintains its own cancellation policy, so be sure to confirm the policy before finalizing your reservation.

It seems really odd that you can't easily find the rule and the fee BEFORE you decide where you want to eat.

You'll know you were too late when the charge appears on your account. ;)

You didn't go quite far enough in making the reservation. On the last page before you confirm, there is a section called Guest Policies that you have to check a box to agree to. In there it says you have to cancel one day prior to avoid a per person fee of $10. I believe most of them are $10/person, except a few of the prepaid ones? I looked at CRT breakfast, which is prepaid, and it says full price will be charged if not cancelled a day ahead.

Curious if anyone has actually been charged before? We have canceled ADRs due to plan changes within the 24 hours & not been charged.

Thank you so much!

Usually, if you cancel the day prior before midnight, they don't charge you, even if it's less than 24 hours. That's what I've heard anyway...

I can't guarantee anything for anyone, we have canceled same day due to plan changes & not been charged.

And yes, plenty of people on this site have been charged, and have posted about it.

No, I've never been charged, but I've never left it until the last minute.

Yes, we have been charged in the past when we were unable to show up. It was not a valid reason to request them to waive the fee, we took our lumps as we earned them.
It is really no longer something anyone would need to let happen though.
About a year, maybe 18 months ago, they added the ability to change an ADR online and on the app.
You can do this right up till about 2 hours before the ADR (maybe even closer, I've never pushed it more than that)
If you change the ADR to a future date, either one you can make or one you can later cancel, you aren't charged a no show fee

The fee, as I understand it, is up to the individual restaurant (manager?) to apply or waive. They either accept or deny them individually. I don't believe it applies automatically, though I may be wrong.

Not sure about online, but if you call, you might still be able to move the reservation back. We once did it about 45-50 minutes before a reservation for a very hard to get location. My cousin was the one to call and all she did was ask to move that reservation to later in the week. She did not offer, nor was asked, why. We canceled the reservation the next day since it was on our check out day.

FYI: If they had not moved it, we would have just paid the $30 total fee for the two of us. It was just a might as well try more than anything.

I have been charged, we weren't up for breakfast outside of our resort that morning, so we cancelled at the last minute and were charged.

Not true I tried canceling on the app then when I was not successful

No I was moving reservations around trying to trade one restaurant for another and I went to the site but they told me I had to call

Just booked normal restaurant ADR .... saw these.
I believe it will come up different for prepaid meals/events.

This showed up on two pages:

Your credit card is being used to guarantee this reservation. Please cancel your reservation within the location’s allotted cancellation period to keep from being charged.

This was part of what I agreed to at end:

Thank you!

You can't do it that way if it's the same day. You can only move it to a later time (like 3 months away) and then cancel that

Actually you can't trade any ADR ever. You can cancel and book new location
