Where do you eat (if not in the park) when you go to HS for the day?

Do you eat at a nearby resort? If so where? I'm trying to get ideas as nothing really appeals to me inside the park. 50's prime time is good and we tried that last time but looking to try something different this time. I don't know which resorts are closest to this park (for TS meal)

???

Thanks to all,
Tammy

My kids like Sci Fi Diner, the food is average, but they love the atmosphere.

We love Mama Melrose for lunch or dinner. We also like Starring Rolls for breakfast or deli sandwiches.
Nearby, Beaches & Cream, Yachtsmans St, ESPN club and Cape May offer very good meals with just a short boat ride from HS.

I would recommend hopping a boat over to the Yacht and Beach Club and eating at Beaches and Cream. It is a TS but does not take reservations. It is also very small and doesn't have many tables. So don't plan to eat at noon and expect to get seated immediately. It is great and my family loves it.

You might check into Cape May Cafe. I know they have breakfast and dinner...don't know about lunch.

We are trying this out in May! We also did not want to eat in DHS, so we will take the boat to the Beach Club from DHS and eat there. It seems to get decent reviews and my boys love taking those boats around Disney:woohoo:

When we do DHS we are not eating in the park either. We too have done 50's Prime Time and enjoyed it, but wanted something else. So since my DH HAS to go to ESPN Club at least once while we are at Disney, this will the perfect opportunity to do so. So we plan on taking a boat over to the Boardwalk area and eat there.

The Epcot resort area is a quick 15 minute boat ride or walk from DHS. Lots of great lunch places on the Boardwalk, YC, BC, Swan and Dolphin. Heck, you can even take the boat or walk (takes about 30 minutes) all the way to Epcot and eat somewhere around World Showcase!

Just keep your expectations in check if you are eating their for the clambake dinner. Breakfast is great but the clambake is ok at best in our opinion. We could have just had an off night but it took us 30 minutes to get ketchup for the kids chk nuggets because the waitress kept saying they would bring it out. It was at the buffet line. My kids eat everything with ketchup so it was a problem for us. Food just ok but clam chowder was great!

I would go to ESPN club on the boardwalk. Not sure if they take ressie's. The reason is because although I love the beachclub (which houses beaches and cream) your kids my get very upset if they can't swim in the pool. You will have access to outdoor seating (provided it is not packed, which it most likely will be) and your kids may really want to swim. Infact this is exactly what what happned to us one year. The good thing that came out of it was that we knew the next year we would want to stay at BC and we did and have ever since! The action on the boardwalk is great, easy walking from the back of epcot (between england and france) and the ESPN club will have something for everyone!

Here are our favorites...
Beaches & Cream (BC)
ESPN Club (BW)
Big River (BW)
Also heard good things about Spoodles (BW)

If you have a park hopper or annual pass, Epcot is also a wonderful choice.

As a PP mentioned, Epcot is also a short boat ride away. Ride one boat to BC/YC, BW, or Swan. Then, you can walk (or ride another boat) to the Epcot International Gateway entrance. No walking through the front of Epcot, you enter between UK and France.

Sci-Fi Dine-In was nice and fun, especially just getting to sit in the cars and watch the retro programming on the screen.

if we were to stay at HS it would be Mama Melrose... it is family favorite... if we are leaving the park and want something close.. ESPN zone is great... but go at an off time... can be very crowded and last I knew they didn't take reservations....

For a TS i would go either to EPSN, or Beaches and Cream, for a CS I would just ride over to Epcot:idea:

We left EPCOT to eat lunch at The Captain's Grille, at the YC. The ESPN Club would be another possibility. They are both a pleasant boat ride away.

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:
