We are planning at DVC stay in a 1 bedroom from 27th December untill 3rd January, we will book at OKW at 11 months and try and switch at 7 months.

Which resort do you think we would have the best chance at

BWV
BCV
VWL

Thanks

Assuming that the Christmas decorations are still up I would say Wilderness Lodge. This place is suppose to be great during the holidays. Last time we went in June they gave us a hard time visting other resorts unless we have a restuarant reservation due to the limited parking so staying at a really nicely decorated resort will have it's advantages.

If you are willing to call day by day when the 7 month window opens, you have a pretty good chance of getting any of your choices. The biggest problem will be New Year's Eve, 12/31.

IMHO, your best chance will be for the BWV simply becasue it is the largest of your 3 choices. VWL will be the most difficult becasue it is the smallest and the most popular DVC resort during December. Only standard view/guaranteed BW views (at the BWV) are more difficult to reserve than VWL accomodations during that time frame.

Good luck -

p.s. You may want to edit the title of your thread. I think many are not interpreting your poll the way you want them to. Looks to me like they are answering "Where should I stay" instead of "Where do I have the best chance of getting in at the 7 month window?"

I agree you would be least likely to get a ressie at VWL because of the size but it would be awesome if you could. We stayed there Dec 2004 26th-Jan.2 and it was truly magical!

I think BWV is the most likely because it is the largest of the 7 month resorts you asked about. Both BCV and VWL are very popular then and are much smaller, so the competition to get in then could be tough. I would check at 7 months and ask for a wait list at all three and see what happens.

I would have thought that the BWV and BCV would be very popular on NYE but if VWL is a smaller resort then I will see what is available at 7 months and take it from there.

Thanks for the tip :)

Got in VWL at the 7month for May with no problem(studio). :wizard:

I think all of the resorts will be tough for those dates, but if you call day by day, as some suggested, you probably have a decent chance.
I feel BWV will be the easiest based on size as well......I'm thinking VWL would be the toughest. Best of luck to you :flower:

VWL is toughest for several reason. 1. Size, 2. This is the Christmas Holidays and this is a resort with a Christmassy look to it. 3. Proximity to the other MK resorts.

Got me thinking that maybe I should go ahead and book New Years Eve this year there before the 7 month window rolls around. The weekend actually pans out pretty nicely.

You stand a chance of being able to get any of those. But if I had to pick one it would be BWV,just because of the size.
They are all Beautiful at Christmas.

but if you waitlist at all 3 at 7 months you will most likely have your pick.

For ex. you book OKW at 11 months, at 7 months you call and you cant complete your ressie at any of the 3, you waitlist for the entire period for each of the 3 resorts, if BWV becomes available first, you switch from OKW to BWV but stay on the Waitlist for the other 2, then maybe VWL becomes avail, and you want to stay there more than you want BWV so you switch and most possibly BCV becomes available and that is where you want to stay the most so you switch to that.

No guarantees, but in 2004, I used the waitlist to switch from BCV to VWL for 10 nights over Christmas. During that time, I had all my waitlists come thru and had my pick. The beauty is, you have a guaranteed ressie and can move forward with all your other plans while you wait for the waitlist.

Many people book at 11 months, but will cancel as their plans change. I for one think the Waitlist is Disneys Best Kept Secret!
