We live in Atlanta, GA. I'm surprised to only see one other post from Georgia! We are within a days drive (7 1/2 hours) or with good tail winds 1 hour and 15 minute flight. We've only driven once during the last 6 years, use buddy passes and frequent fliers miles. We're driving down in 6 months with DB and DN for their first trip.
Southern Cape May County, New Jersey (affectionately known as Exit 0 on the Garden State Parkway). We fly from Phila. or Atlantic City - whoever has the best rates.
We bought a conversion van so that we could have a comfortable drive down. We usual leave home at zero-dark-thirty on Saturday morning and drive ten hours to Kingsland, GA. The next morning we have a five hour drive to WDW. Coming home we leave Downtown Disney, after eating lunch at the Earl of Sandwich, on Friday and drive to north Florence, SC. The next day we drive the remaining distance home. That way we use one week of leave and get five nights at WDW at the weekday rate.
Abingdon, Virginia. It's 715 miles to WDW from our town. We can catch a 1 hour 40 minute direct flight and have flown the last 2 trips. It's much easier for us with 2 restless children
We are from MI also. We also tend to get flights for around 120 or less each person (spirit, sometimes NW and if I needed to I would go with SW also, but I perfer non stop.)
We often get AP and go a few times a year, but I don't see us doing that always, especially when the kids are older and taking them out of school more then one week a year would be hard.
