Where do be for the parade question...

Going to the Christmas party on 12/6. My soon to be 5 year old requests to be "in the snow" for the parade. We also need to leave the parade asap to make it to the dessert party in Tomorrowland for the fireworks.

Sooooo where should we try to sit? Bonus points if you have a suggestion for when we should try to get there to stake out the seats.

Be at the northern end of Main St. on the east side (near the Ice Cream shop, across from Casey's.)
Arrive at least an hour before the parade start-time.

On Main Street somewhere near (on either side of the street) the Emporium.

If we're going to Tomorrowland am I correct in thinking we should be on the Bakery/Plaza side of the street? Or will it matter? My thought was that it would take longer to cross the street if we were on the other side? Like after the parade is over? We've actually never watched a parade at Disney on all our trips!
