Where did you stay at Disneyland?

We stayed at the Embassy Suites in GG a couple of years ago and would highly recommend it! The rooms were nice and the made to order breakfasts really help if you want to save a little money on food. The bus schedule ran about every half hour so we never had to wait too long.

For our trip in 05 we will probably be staying at one of the Disney resorts, however only because it is more convenient when my son wants to take a nap.

Eventhough we did not stay there is past trip in September, we did notice that is was open on a busy weekend day (at least for exiting the park). I had thought during the week it looked like it was closed, but after seeing it open on the weekend, I suspected that I had been mistaken.

Both times in the past 3 years, we've stayed at the Holiday Inn Resort Area on Manchester. We really liked it. About a 10 minute drive to DL, easy to get there. Room had a microwave and fridge and there was a Target nearby so we got milk, cereal, etc for breakfast. Free parking and you can buy a pass for the ART shuttle. Nice rooms, no problems. Good value at the $60/night I was able to get on their website (just advance reservation rate, no special affiliations or anything like that). While I would have loved to stay in a Disney hotel, the lack of a more value hotel (like the Allstars at WDW) makes it cost prohibitive. Would rather use the difference in $$ enjoying the parks!

I am excited to be trying out Hojo's for one night in Dec. at a rate of under $59.00, mouse info discount.
Then we are moving to Park Place Inn for a $69 rate for a mini suite.
We have stayed at Park Place Inn before and it was great, large clean rooms, close walking distance.
Desert Inn & Suites was also good but parking was a little tight and we were there in off season, but the rate was $49 and walking distance, clean rooms.
Carousel was good also and close, although my nephews room wasn't all that clean and kind of in disrepair.
Motel 8 had to drive but was also clean and resonable.
Fairfield Inn longer walking distance but very nice and they let us check in at 7am after a long drive, great staff. Our lock was broken tho and it took awhile to get someone to repair ir and it was at night. But it was a nice place at $59 a night.
The very best was Anaheim Marriott at $59 a night. The first night the room above me flooded mine (terrifying to wake up to) and the manager moved me to a suite on Concierge level and a comp for food the rest of my stay. Great place and rate but had to use their shuttle which was ok, but had waiting times. That was back in 1998.
The worst was Park Vue Inn. They gave my nephew a room that was already occupied. We found out by going in and finding other peoples things still there. Customer service was poor as one of the kids got sick in the night and they wouldn't give out clean sheets. Lots of things, just not good. But it is close.
I just discovered these boards and have enjoyed reading everyones comments.
Can't wait for our trip in December!!

We have stayed at the Marriott Anaheim, Hilton Anaheim, Paradise Pier Hotel, Residence Inn Anaheim.

The Paradise Pier was ok, not up to my WDW resort standards. Also it doesn't have a laundry on property you have to use the one at the Disneyland Hotel. No elevator in the parking garage also.

All the other hotels I would return to again except Paradise Pier. The Grand Californian looks great also.

I have booked the Comfort Inn & Suites on Katella for 7 nts in January for $47/nt. Comes to $330 for the week. Has a fridge/micro and deluxe cont. brekkie (waffles incl.). Also has free use of the business center, which works well for me, because as much as I really don't want to - I will have to check in quickly with work via internet each day.
I have read reviews and everyone seems to like it. I have never had a problem with a Comfort Inn, and hope this is the same. They use the ART shuttle, which doesn't bother me.
Anyone who has followed my story on the boards knows I am just happy to be going to Disneyland - we have overcome some big obstacles to get there!

I've stayed in all 3 onsite hotels, however, given a preference, I'll stay offsite at the Anaheim Hilton Hotel & Towers. All rooms look alike when I'm sleeping, and during my visit I'll hang out for a couple hours in GCH to enjoy the theming. Until I figure out how to sleep with my eyes open, I don't need to pay more than 2x what I pay at the Hilton to stay at GCH.

Everyone has their preferences, I prefer the Hilton because I know many of the staff after multiple stays (2 weeks a month for over a year) and they always make me feel like I'm at home.

We've stayed at the following:

Anaheim Marriott -- Nice, rooms were okay, location was okay, nothing spectacular
Hilton- Large rooms, nice deccor, typical Hilton
Candy Cane - Didn't care for it
Paradise Pier --least favorite of the Disneyland Hotels owned/operated by Disney
California Adventure -- Rooms smaller than expected but overall very nice. Excellent location.
Disneyland Hotel - Sierra Towers our favorite ... we like this resort.

Disneyland Hotel-LOVE Sierra Tower & this is our fave

BW Park Place Inn-Closest offsite motel, the rooms are decent sized. Stayed here twice & would defintley go back

Hojo's-Loved our stay a Hojos, esp tower room facing the park. But's a tad too long of a walk for my kiddos

Tropicana-2 stays. 1st room was eh, 2nd remodeled room pretty dang good for $60!!

Embassy Suites Garden Grove-LOVE IT! I just wish it was walking distance. I prefer being able to walk back and forth to the hotel.

Desert Inn & Suites-very basic, but good staff & decent rooms. Don't care for the indoor pool though.

Carousal-It was okay the breakfast was horrible, it was 7 years ago though so I've heard it's gotten better.

Anheim Hilton Suites-Wonderful hotel, wonderful breakfast but too far away, it's out by The Pond.

Desert Palm-it was just okay.

Best Value Inn & Suites-just okay, but wayyy too far away.

Castle Inn & Suites-horrible stay, just horrible wouldn't go back.

Fairfield Inn-again, bad bad stay. wouldn't go back

Oh boy! We were planning on staying at Paradise Pier and after reading this thread Im having second thoughts. One of our main reasons for choosing it was the special entrance. I was already a little disappointed that there wasnt a quick service food place there and now no laundry and no entrance.
Does anyone have anything really good to say about it?

Sorry -- I'm sure this isn't what you want to hear -- but our experience there was not good, at all. The decor is rather plain and simple and there was little "magic" in the atmosphere or the decor. They said they redid the pool and to us it looked pretty much like a standard pool. They did add a slide but it stands by itself and doesn't go into the pool. There were dishes in the hallway from room service at various times during the day -- sometimes for as long as 12 hours. It just wasn't pretty...and we stayed concierge. Not again. We are going back to Disneyland Hotel - Sierra Tower - much better.

That being said, there are some that like PP. We just don't.

In regards to park entrance, we hear though that now you can use the entrance at the Grand Californian if you are staying at the PP Hotel since they closed the other one. Although I don't see that as much of a perk but I think that is now the option.

You might want to do a search in this forum for Paradise Pier ... you can find some good info there on some opinions. I posted quite a bit from our trip.

The view of Calif. Adventure from Paradise Pier was wonderful. We did use the special gate at GC and that was nice. Other than that I think you could find a better hotel.

It had nothing special. Pool area was OK but not great. I felt I could have gotten better value else where.

I read the boards before I left and didn't find any posts about there not being a laundry at PP. That just doesn't seem right to have to lug your laundry down the road to the Disneyland Hotel.

You guys convinced me. My first choice was the DL Hotel, but when we went to put in for a quote for some reason we went with PP. We held the quote and after hearing all this we tried again with a quote for DLR. It actually wasnt much more money at all so we ended up booking that.
Usually laundry wouldnt be a big issue to me at all, but we are staying here for 4 days before our cruise so I know Ill be doing at least a couple loads of laundry. Plus Im much happier having counter service places to heat at here...we want to save our appetites for the cruise.
