I am so curious as to how Disney does Christmas Eve and Day at the restaurants! We've always decided to go down around Thanksgiving, but a few stupid family squabbles this Christmas has me thinking maybe my boys and I (DH and DS) should scrap it all and head down to WDW for the actual holiday next year.

So where did you eat? What did you have? What do the restaurants do different because it's Christmas?

TIA!!

I wasnt there this year, but 2 years ago we ended up there for the same reason you mentioned...a family fight the year before (plus DH forgetting my birthday on the 28th).

We dined at Le Cellier with the CP Package on Christmas Eve. I cant imagine a better night to do that. We had Christmas breakfast at the Castle, in keepng with our tradition of a big Christmas morning breakfast. Knowing we wouldnt be hungry for much later in the day, we just planned on counter service and ended up eating a late lunch/early dinner at the CBR food court, when we were resort hopping to see the decorations.

We liked it so much, we may be going back next year for Christmas again.

Oh that sounds wonderful!! The CP on Christmas Eve must be about as perfect as you can get.

thanks!!

Christmas 2005--Prime Time Cafe
Christmas 2004--Boatwrights
Christmas 2003--'Ohana
Christmas 2002--Tony's

We never got the Christmas meal but some of the places do offer a Christmas dinner consisting of turkey, stuffing, and some of the other normal christmas sides. At times the servers will wear Christmas hats but we don't remember too much out of the ordinary.

Christmas Eve dinner was at Citricos at the GF...wonderful dinner. Christmas day was at Rose and Crown for CP package. We saw John Stamos 1st show at 5pm...he did a great job..his family was sitting right behind us! :sunny:

Last Christmas we ate at Chef Mickey's. It was great. There was huge variety on the buffet and everyone was in such a good mood. Hope you have fun planning your trip!!

I'm soooo jealous! We did the CP Christmas Day 2004 and we were excited to see Gary Sinise but my boys nearly flipped when they heard this year it was John Stamos. They live for Full House reruns and know well who "Uncle Jesse" is, lol. We ate at Les Chefs de France and it was fantastic and beautiful to boot. Unfortunately the weather left much to be desired - first, we nearly froze and then the torrential rain came and we felt like drowned rats. That said, I'd love to be there every year for Christmas!

You could have been us last year! :rotfl: We have one of those families (mind you not each person, but in general) who drive ya crazy at the holidays...we have 6 or 7 places to be in those 48 hours, so this year we headed to WDW and it was the best thing we ever did!!! :cloud9:

For Christmas Eve, we had a lunch at San Angel...DS opted to stay at the resort so it was a nice "date" for us. Then we did the 6:45pm CP show...which was fabulous! Jim Caviziel was superb...and nice to look at when I did...I was in awe of the sign language interpreter that night. Then we walked right over to Teppenyaki for dinner which was fantastic! Then a walk to the International Gateway, hopped a boat to Boardwalk, then a bus back to SSR.

For Christmas day...our last day and would be picked up by Tiffany Town Car at 6pm...we stowed our bags and headed to Whispering Canyon Cafe for the Christmas lunch. It was a nice meal...very tasty and filling just like home. And the hijinks was almost as bad as home...lol We then grabbed a bus and went to DD where we walked along the waterfront, did some last minute shopping then headed back to SSR around 4. We grabbed cookies and cider in the Carriage House, walked down to Artist Palette and had a light dinner around 5. Our driver was waiting for us when we walked to bell services to grab our bags at 5:40, so we headed for the airport early.

I posted photos of our meals on the food photo thread...if you want to have a look.

We (dd and I) had Christmas Eve at Alfredo's, and the Fettucine was excellent. The caeser salad had way too much dressing, and desert was very good. I would eat their again. I was a little nervous about it as many on the board have not liked it. But we did. Noisy tho...and we did not do the Candelight package. We did it last year with Gary SInese, and ate at the Garden Grill. That was just ok. Neither of us eat catfish, and my daughter doesn't eat pork. so we ate a lot of flank steak. It was tasty, but I think eating in a country is more exciting.

Christmas day, we did not go to a park. Opened gifts and didn't leave the room till about 2 p.m. We took the boat from POR to DTD, walked around, but by the time we tried to get in anywhere for dinner, it was way too long a wait and we were starved. Went back to POR, couldn't get into Boatwrights, so we ate in the food court, and then went to the PORFQ to the hot tub (POR was closed), came back to the room and watched Christmas movies on t.v.

We did Chef Mickey's for dinner on Christmas Eve. It was great, left dinner and went downstairs and found Santa!

Christmas morning was CRT and dinner was LTT. I don't believe that any of them served anything different from the usual but we had a great time!

We had Christmas dinner upon arrival at the California Grille. I had the pumpkin soup, and Duck 3 ways, and it was wonderful! They had a good selection for the holidays.
