Where did the grown-ups go?

I'm 16, but not for much longer - I'll be 17 on Tuesday! :)

It could be that the person has some sort of disability. If you are talking about the thread I'm thinking of, I'd say that is the case. I was rather disgusted at the way people responded to that individual. JMHO. By they way, I'm 53.

This is what I was thinking. (But I'm also 53 so maybe it's something to do with our age!)

im 14 and i totally agree with sparx....the teen board has become all 11-12 year olds..and some older ones but they dont hang out here...there are some mature teen, imature teens, mature adults and imature adults (as in the way you act on the boards not the fact you love disney) so, i like being on the community board better than being on the teen boards.

So just to sum up...on this here Disney Community Board there is a growing movement that some people just aren't taking things serious enough, and some adults have the nerve to act immature while discussing the VERY important topics such as what? Mickey bars? Dole Whips? The ever popular crockpots on the Poly beach? I've been MIA for a while in WDW so I'm a bit lost. But everyone will be happy to know we didn't have any fun while we were there, and we did everything strictly by the book.

I've read all the posts, and don't find that's what's being said at all. :confused3 Dole whip threads have been a past staple of the Restaurant Board, though. ;)

I think what the OP was talking about (or not--this is my take on it) is that in the recent past, several themes on the CB are threads with thinly-veiled racist overtones, xenophobia, I'm-better-than-you and such. They've been more common in the last several months and designed only to be provocative. The mods take care of them pretty quickly, but sometimes it's just disheartening, I guess, to see that people get off on such crap.

Glad you and your family had fun on your trip. :)

Luvmydogs, you can speak for me any time! You understood perfectly.

As for the thread mentioned by Feralpeg, I was one of those who pointed out that the person may have a disability. There is no particular thread that brought on my original question. However, if there were, that one certainly would have been at the top of the list. I was appalled at the way people were treating that individual. It was obvious to me that there was more there than we knew about.

I'm just wondering where the attitude of "shoot first, ask questions later" to certain posts/posters is coming from? IMHO, it just seems immature and is making the board feel a lot less friendly.

::MinnieMo 62 here and love talking to and listening to
anyone at any age. All opinions matter. :p

Joining the canasta group..... let's just say mid 40's here.....

Me? I'll be celebrating the 17th anniversary of my Sweet Sixteen next May. Yep, you heard me. That's how it will be versed from here on out :cool1:

I have an annual 29th birthday party. Not telling how many times the party's been held (so there!)

when you're done playing canasta, aim your canes this way and come play mah jong - but wait until I find my bi-focals and heating pad.

I do have to say there are a few (that I know of personally) of the teens and such around here who act very mature and have amazing hearts. One of them has already posted in this thread too.

I'm 35 and stay home with my kids. Just talking to anyone over the age of six is an enlightening conversation for me! :rotfl2:

I have to admit I have noticed it, too. Not in a bad way but more surprising. I have been following threads, even responding here and there and then realized that many of the posters are teens. And I am thinking OMG, I am responding like I am conversing with 30 to 50 year olds and then certain pieces of the thread will make me realize they are younger than my own baby girl (who is 18 :earboy2: ). But like others have said, a few times it was Sparx and I was amazed when I realized she was only 14. Very mature - that one :flower: Anyway, this is the CB, everyone is welcome!

P.S. I am 45...perhaps I need to learn how to play Canasta??? I know Dan is very friendly with open arms...

I enjoy hearing different points of view, and meeting people at different stages of life. I think it's fun to guess how old someone is, so...

"Realage.com" says I'm 46. I feel younger & healthier than I did when I was 35. I fondly remember thinking I was 'grown up' at 21 -- but I wouldn't want to go back and be that young again. Maybe I'd go back to 35... but only if I could feel this good! My DH threw a BIG bash for my Bday this year, and it was really nice. I think I finally feel comfortable in my own skin... You guessed it, I was born the same year as Disneyland! ::yes::

I still love Disney World,Amusement Parks, riding on those horses you put a quarter into, having birthday candles on my cake, playing kids games,exc.exc...
Going down waterslides....getting in those animal tubes.
Yes I am 47 years old and still act like I'm 16!!
Just can't help myself!

There are some VERY mature teens that post here particularly when you compare them to some of the immature adult posters. It's an interesting mix.

That would be me ;)

I'm 17
