Where can we get good steak?

My MIL has insisted that if she is getting the DDP that she has to have steak at every meal to justify the price. :sad2:

While I love a great steak, I don't want to eat that at every meal but our ADR choices need to be places that offer a steak on the menu.

Any suggestions for restaurants with steaks for 1 TS credit?

I already have Kona booked (which IMO is the best steak I have had on property!).

Thanks!

Most ts have some sort of steak on the menu but it's really not always the best thing to order. When I want a good steak at WDW I go to Yachtsmen Steakhouse but I think that's 2 credits on the DDP. We don't do the plan as we find that we spend a little bit less just paying as we go and we have no restrictions on what we eat. You can see the menus of all the restaurants at allears.net.

I wish people like your MIL don't think of the DDP as not a good value unless they get steak. Not many people seem to think of it as simply pre-paying for meals. If she priced out all components separately (and tip also has to be added as a factor, regardless), I'm sure she'll find that she can order anything off any menu and average out the cost of the plan.

If she wants to find steak so badly, let her go looking at the dining menus here or at All Ears and do all the table service bookings. She's got some nerve putting that on you.

I never get the DDP because I don't want to feel pidgeon-holed by how many credits I need to use. I think the plan is probably a better deal for families with children 3-9 years old.

Unless you call 180 days in advance, I'd say it'll be hard to get 1 TS that serves steak in the theme parks. Le Cellier is a prime example of that.

Does she know that tips are not included? I hope that doesn't send her over the edge.

It looks like Teppan Edo and Chefs de France also have steak on the menu.

LOL!!!! I'm sorry, but for some reason this cracks me up. :rotfl: You poor thing -- ever think of telling MIL to stay home and eat a Golden Corral every night? You could send her a post card. ;)

Good luck -- the GOOD news is that most restaurants offer at least one such choice. With the exception of CS.

Places that I have had great steaks while at WDW include: Coral Reef, Le Cellier, Grand Floridian Cafe.

Also, If you go to the Peper Market at Coronado Springs Resort you can get a Ribeye cooked to order and it counts as a Counter Service meal and not a Table Service Meal. We did this one afternoon this past trip. It was a nice diversion. The steak was very good.

We went to the Grand Floridian Cafe last month on a whim and DH had the best NY strip ever, tons of pics and full review in my Aug link

Just returned. Le Cellier and Kona.
Love Kona - the atmosphere and off the monarail and boat launch.Never seems to be crowded. Always eat here at least twice per trip once for steak and then again for great lunch.

Also - if she likes prime rib... Crystal Palace and Boma.

I had a filet at The Wave, though I didn't find it terribly impressive (it doesn't help that the service was very bad that day).

And there are many ways to not make the DDP worth it - especially without the appetizer and tip. I say go ahead and eat steak all week when paying $40 for the meal plan. :)

Great suggestions! I would never have thought of places like Chefs de France or Boma or even the GF Cafe' (although we did eat there with her last year).

My MIL is great but she and my FIL have only been to WDW once (last year with us) so we are still trying to school her in all things Disney. I have tried to tell her about all of the great variety in the restaurants but in her mind expensive = steak so that is what she wants. If we can dine at restaurants that offer other types of entrees (like Coral Reef as a PP suggested) then she can order her steak and then ooh and aaah at the wonderful seafood dishes everyone else ordered and sample them.

I think the first time doing the DDP most people are set on the "getting their money's worth" aspect and immediately order the most expensive entree. DH and I love the DDP because it means we can budget out exactly what our meals will cost for our family of 5 then just add in our extra money for tips and additional snacks.

We LOVE the Pepper Market and make that a frequent stop when we have DDP! :thumbsup2

I know we have waited so late for ADRs and now are having a hard time - Le Cellier is booked solid and so is Coral Reef for our entire stay.

If all else fails do you think that Golden Corral will take our Dining Credits? :rotfl:
