Where can points be used?

I've never posted before.. this may seem like a stupid question but can DVC points be used at the other hotels or only at the vacation clubs? Ex. can the points be used for rooms at port orleans or such? Many thanks!

sure they can:

for 22 pts per weeknight plus a $95 fee, you can stay in a POFQ hotel room in the summer

OR

for 19 pts per weeknight with no extra fees, you can stay in a BLT lakeview studio in the summer - a 6 minute walk from the MK with a kitchenette (some lakeview rooms have a partial view of the castle)

OR

for 26 pts per weeknight with no extra fees, you can stay in an OKW 1BR in the summer - about 1000 sq ft with full kitchen/washer/dryer/jacuzzi

OR

you could rent a DVC reservation using those 22 pts per night and have around $220 per night to pay cash for an onsite resort

i wouldn't trade out - it's not a good deal. but it can be done.

At WDW you can't use DVC points to stay at any resort that has a DVC attached. It is usually cheaper to stay through a Disney deal than use points.

You can't use points at Value resorts. You can use points at Moderate and Deluxe (but only the non-DVC Deluxe resorts like Bill says above).

But you get a better return on your points to use the for DVC resorts.

There are also other timeshares that you can trade into (they take a lot more time to get exactly what you want), the Disney Cruise Line, a few other hotels/resorts (non-timeshare) and Adventures by Disney.
