My dd wants to get her hair briaded like you get on an island. I remember the stands from the last time doing wraps.Universal had a stand with braids but I do not remember seeing it in disney. I do not like the wraps for children since it does damage your hair.
Where can we go for it to be braided?? Have they added this?

The salon at GF. The stylists are great. On several occasions when we have been there, they were talking about how much braiding they do on kids.

I don't know the answer, but I'm curious as to how the wraps ruin your hair? I thought it was just colored string wrapped around a strand of hair..

i don't know if the wrapping damages the hair per se, but i know when we got my dd's done a few years ago, after three weeks it was as tight as the day it went in, she was tired of it, i was tired of it (LOL) so we cut it out... she has a huge mop of hair and it was such a little bit from underneath that there was no way to even notice where the hair was missing...

My dd had her hair braided last year in an outdoor kiosk at one of the outlet malls - I think "Premium Outlets". It's the one adjacent to Dolly Parton's Stampede and Outback Steakhouse and a large religious shrine. Within the outlet is Tommy Hilfiger, Nike, etc if this helps place the outlet.

The kiosk was near the Brooks Brothers store. They did a great job and the braids lasted a long time. She put a few beads in as well. I forget what the price was but it was well worth it.

I had the same experience with the hair wraps for my DD. We got them done at Sea World. There is supposed to be a way to remove the wrap without doing damage....something about pulling a string (!) I couldn't get it out, so we had to cut it out also- never again!!!

My DD had hers done at the Niki Bryan Spa at the BC. The location is good because it took a long time and the rest of the family just waited at Stormalong bay.

My DD got her hair braided at the barbershop on main street in MK. It was around Oct. 2003 so I'm not sure if they'll still do it. We went in to get her hair colored and pixie dusted and the wonderful lady who was doing her hair just started to braid it, we did not even ask for it. DD was sooooo happy.

My DD has had about 5 hair wraps and we always do hers under the hair and behind the ear because it does ruin the hair if you leave it in for an extended time. She typically keeps hers about 3 - 4 months. With the twisting of the wrap just from general movement and getting flung around it makes the hair weak near the scalp. Once we had a crummy one and the thread slid off about 2 weeks later, no damage. A couple have completely broken off hair and all, and another I cut the thread off, but the hair was so damaged it broke off a few days later. Because it's under the hair it's not a big deal to us. You can't see the spot even when she wears a ponytail.

As for the OPs original question, here is a thread that was going last week about the same topic. I'm still not sure everyone was talking about the same thing. My DD would really like to get her hair corn rowed so hopefully they'll get some stands like hairwrapping.

I think the braiding does the most damage. We had the wraps done and although it was a pain to take out, it only took 5 minutes. My DDs had their hair braided in Jamaica. I spent 6 hours taking the braids out of my youngest's head yesterday. :rolleyes1

If you do get it done, be sure to spray her head with sunscreen often. Sunburn on freshly exposed skin combined with tight braids is painful!

thanks everyone but now I am totally confused. I think there are many people that confuse braiding(cornrows) and wrapping. A few friends had their hair and daughters and everyone of them had the hair actually break off. I had the braids done on my daughters hair last year on a cruise. They looked so pretty and never had trouble. Yes, you do need to apply lots of suntan lotion.
From the posts I think the beach club does it. I may venture of there while we are in epcot. Thanks

I had my hair braided last year in the Bahamas during a cruise and it was wonderful for my vacation. I only had it braided part of the way back, so it looked like I had on a headband. I've got naturally curly hair, so I just washed and went! WONDERFUL!

This year, before we leave Indianapolis, I'm going to a local salon and having my hair braided. I'm sure it will be cheaper and then I won't have to use my precious Disney time for haircare! LOL

Hi everyone, Ok I get a hair wrap ( yup me the 30 year old) every time I go. It doesnt damage your hair, to remove it you dont need to cut your hair. you cut the knot at the end of the wrap and unwravel it. then when you get down to the final knot attached to your hair, just pull and it will slide off your hair.
The only thing that I found was that it was a tiny bit uncomfortable the first day because it weights more and pulls slightly on that spot.

Also I found last time that my hair got dammaged, not by the wrap but by the clorine in the pool, so when I went to the hairdressers to get it cut ( with it still in mind you a month after I got home) She put some deep conditioners in my hair and it just fell out it was soo lubed up.
