My DD11 uses and abuses earbuds but needs some good ones. I would love to buy her some Beats or something similar but not in the budget. Where can I get some good quality earbuds that won't break the bank or even the Beats style earphones for $60 or under? Thanks!

I was recently told that wooden earphones have better sound etc. You can find them on ebay or amazon. Check reviews for a good pair.

I like Skull Candy buds and get them off ebay. Skull Candy sells directly on ebay so everything is lifetime warranty and ships from the factory (their user name is Skullcandy). The cheapest set i have i paid $9 for and the best set i paid $30 for. Both sound pretty close, the more expensive ones have a stronger bass (larger diaphragm). They trick is, they must fight tight in your ears. The buds use you ear canal as the resonance chamber. If they are loose then they are tinny, tight and you have strong bass.

I've been using this model for about 8 or 10 years. (Two pair in that amount of time - not due to damage, I simply lost my first pair for a short period, but I found them and they're still in use.)

They're well-built, don't fall out of my ears and the music is passable.

Wow, that's a long time! We go through at least two pair per year. Will check these out too. Thanks!

I second this pair. My first pair lasted from 2008 until this spring with consistent use. My husband has a pair too.

Forget about "good" earbuds --- there is no such thing!! My daughter goes through them like crazy as well. I refuse to buy her Beats or any type of headphone that is super loud like that. I want her to have hearing when she grows up!

I actually buy her the earbuds from Dollar Tree! They work fine and they last a good few weeks before they need to be replaced. I'll buy 5 at a time and just give them to her as-needed.

Ick. Dollar tree are nasty and make my ears "bleed" even when not loud. I usually just watch amazon for monsters etc on the lightning deals. I've purchased decent sounding earbuds and the over the ear kind for under $10.

My other son likes those sony's. They've lasted him a year.

I love these - super cheap, highly rated, and the sound is GREAT; been using mine for a year and hate using any other. I also have very tiny ears and these still fit me great. These were recommended on a techie site and when I started doing research, I was happy with the $7 price tag AND the product!:

I've been recommended by a techy friend to try the JLAB brand. Older models on Amazon are as cheap at $6, newer models run in the $20s.

I don't know how they are "nasty" or can make your ears "bleed". That's weird.

They're not "nasty" --- they come in a sealed, hard plastic package so they're not "dirty" or "nasty".

They've never made my daughter's (or my) ears "bleed" so I have no clue what you're talking about.

I'd rather spend $5 and get 5 sets of earbuds and have them on-hand than spend $10 on 1 set and have it break or blow out and have to go out and get more. The wiring on earbuds is NOT meant to last unless you're just sitting there listening to your iPod and not moving. It's cheap garbage, whether you're paying $1 for it or $10 for it --- you're getting the same thing.
