We just bought one last night from Best Buy, a Sony, for $149.

Depends on what you want it to do. If you have high speed internet nearby or have a wireless network in your house, you probably want one that can do Netflix streaming, Cinemanow streaming, Youtube, etc. The cheapest ones won't do those things. However, you should be able to find a good one that does for around $150 or less, maybe even down to the $99 range. Probably better to spend an extra $20-$50 on a good one with features now than to spend money on one that does nothing but play BDs (as awesome as that is).

Having one I can confirm they are worth every penny.

Your new favorite website should also be www.blu-ray.com, and their forums, especially the Hot Deals forum, where you can find all the best deals on Blu-ray discs online and in stores - can save all sorts of money.

As I also frequent the message boards at blu-ray.com , I thought I would interject...

Yes, Walmart will have the Magnavoxes for $78, this coming weekend (Black Friday, Part Deaux). However, product quality/reliability may be an issue. These players are strictly "bare-bones" meaning for those interested in streaming Netflix, you will need to look for something else.

Amazon has this same blu-ray for $133 (free shipping, no sales tax!). I bought this blu-ray at Best Buy for $118 two weeks ago. They matched WalMart's price. The price has since gone up to $148.
