I think I understand how tranferring points works, but I need somes things cleared up.

We are only allowed one tranfers per year, either in OR out. It that PER USE YEAR?

For instance, I just transferred 12 of my 2009 points.(Dec. use year) Can I transfer 2010 points now also? Or do I have wait until next year?

Where do the points go once they are transferred? I have a Dec use year and want to tranfer to someone that has, say, an August use year. They need 50 points, so 50 points comes out of my Dec 10 use year, and goes into her August 10 use year. Those points are now her Aug 2010 use year points, correct? The CM I talked to at MS was trying to tell me the points stay Dec. points. That makes no sense to me, if the person who needs them does not have a Dec use year.

Does this make sense?

Transfers are per use Year. Yes, you should be able to transfer points from your 2010 use Year into another member's 2010 Use Year, but they will remain December, '10 points so they should retain the November 30, 2011 expiration ( and they may be banked for an additional year too). They will also retain their original Home Resort status.

Yes it is per membership use year (although sometimes you will get soemone fro MS who tries to say it is the points UY). Even MS does not have a complete set of rules for transferring, that is why there is so much "make it up as you go" answers

When points get transferred, they retain their home resort and UY. The way that I think about it is to just figure you have two UY's temporarily once you receive a transfer.

So, if you transfer Dec 2010 UY points to someone with an August UY, they simply now have a one time use of Dec UY points. The rules for using them will be the same as they would be for you. They would be good for reservations from December 1st, 2010 through November 30th, 2011.

This person could not use them (I don't believe) prior to that date. Even though the person's 2010 UY starts August 1st, your points can not be used until they become current UY points.

I do believe, however, that you can transfer your 2010 points now but it would count as your 2010 UY transfer.

During a given Use Year, only one (1) Transfer per Club Member or Club membership, either as Transferee or Transferor, will be permitted.
One could interpret this language as limiting transfers across multiple master contracts with a single owner. To my knowledge it hasn't been formally interpreted that way so far but I could easily see it being done.
