My neice and her BF want to go to WDW in Sept.

He will be 20 and she will be 17. I thought I read they have to be 21 to rent a room ? Where can I find that info to be sure.

I think your best bet would be to just call the reservation line and ask or search disney.com for reservation age requirements.

Hope that helps!

I think it's 18. Gonna see what I can find online.....

Forgive me for sounding like...well, like me.

But it's OK with her mom that, at 17, she goes away with her boyfriend?

WHY did you feel the need to ask? Was this the question?

(What is it about the DIS? )

She is living on her own with him and has been since June. So she isn't going away with him like the normal teen. They are just planning a trip together. Trust me I totally agree that she is too young ! But I have no control of it.

Because it was her aunt asking, not her parents. Before WW III erupts in the family over the aunt helping the girl go away with her boyfriend, I thought I should make sure that the girl's parents are aware of her plans.

Forgive me if I'm out of line.

edited to add: thanks for the disclaimer. I'm not sitting in judgement, just trying to prevent you from getting into the middle of a mother/daughter battle.

And, back to the original question: in 1976, my 18 year old friend booked a room at the Contemporary for 3 of us-- she was the only one who wasn't 17.

Thanks for your concern but her mother has no concern over her actions and gave up the right to say anything the day she gave up on her and turned her over to my care at age 14 then helped her to move out at age 16 and then allowed her to move in with this BF at that time.

All I need to know is if they can do this trip. Not if her mom is aware of it.

She has her heart set on taking him there since I took her there in 2005 and she fell in love with Disney.

Ignoring the current drama here and keeping on topic....

I couldn't find this out so I went through the booking process and in the 'fine print' it said....

"*If you are under 18 years of age, you must have your parent or guardian's permission to dial this number."

So I guess the answer is officially 18. :confused3 They should be able to make a reservation with no problem.

You can book a room at 18. DD19 stayed at the POP last month with a 18 year old friend. They won't have a problem.
