Hi,

I live in the Oakville area and am in search of a Wii. I tried a Toysrus, Walmart, EB Games etc. and everyone seems to be sold out.

Does anyone know where I can find one? I'm willing to drive to other locations to get one.

Thanks!

i got mine from the costco website a few weeks ago....they had it shipped to me in about a week.

I'm in Mississauga. Call Costco daily to see if any have arrived in store.

Costco doesn't have the Wii or the PS 3 at their online store any more. I checked last night and again a few minutes ago.

Another option is ask the folks at EB games if they'll take a deposit for one.

Here's an earlier post of mine in a different thread

http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=21906912&postcount=7

I started looking early September. I would check Wal Mart, Best Buy, TRU. Zellers etc. When the Wii's arrive they fly out the door. Finally found one in stock on at EB games. A standard system with 1 controller, 1 nunchcuk and Wii Sports. I picked up Wii Play which comes with 1 controller at Zellers for $49 & a nunchuck fro $25.

If you find a unit once you get it home and test it. The night before Christmas set it up so when your kids wake up it is ready to go. If you're not accustomed to hooking things up it may take a few extra minutes and you'll need to configure the internet connection and any extra remotes.

Wrap up the controllers so they have something to open. Make it the last gift they open as once they know there is Wii in the house they'll be gone.

My suggestion is to call or visit the stores regularly. See if they will take a deposit so when the unit comes in you'll get it.

The closer we get to Christmas harder the Wii's will be to find.

Thanks! I'm going to check with the stores on a daily basis.

I never thought about putting down a deposit to have it put on hold for me, I'm going to go to EB Games first thing tomorrow and try that.

I wish I hadn't waited so long to start looking for one, I never realized how popular they were.

Thanks again.

I said this in another thread, but check HMV. I got one at our HMV last Monday. They probably hadn't had a shipment since the Friday or earlier, but still had one left! I'm not sure, but it may be a less popular store for people to check for Wii's.

Try any independent video stores in your area. Also, Blockbuster and Rogers Video may have them. I have heard a lot of shipments come on Friday. The Source also has them. There is also a new Zellers opening in Waterdown on Friday (I think) and that may be a good place to call if you haven't got one by then. We got ours at Zellers Millcroft on a Saturday morning about 3 weeks ago. We had called and they said they had 2 left and if we got there within half an hour, we would get one.

Good luck!

We got ours last week by going through airmilesshops to the Dell Canada website (so to get airmiles for the purchase!) Not sure if they still have any...
Hope you can find one!

Call Toys R Us they will let you know when they are getting more I know the one in London is expecting 50 units for this coming Saturday.

Thanks. I was unsuccessful yet again today. I called and went to Shoppers, ToysRU, EB, Source, Walmart and Future Shop. Everyone is sold out. Although, they are expecting another shipment before Christmas, no one can give me a date, they say I have to check with them everyday.

I tried Dell and it looks like they are sold out to :(

I never thought to check HMV. I'll give them a try tomorrow.

I like the idea of Zellers new store opening, A new store should be fully stocked.

Even though i didn't get the console today, I did pick up some accessories, games and extra controller.

Thanks again!

You may also want to try Blockbuster and Rogers stores they also get them i for sale.

I had to buy on e-bay in October - so I have mine in hand! Of course the day after I bought it, Walmart had 50 in - grrr

I found mine about 10 days ago at The Source. It had been in the flyer that week, but I went to one in the big box stores area rather than at the mall, and I by chance got the last one in the small store.

We've bought 2 in Oakville in the last few months - one from the Real Canadian Superstore and the other from Blockbuster (one for us, one for a gift). Good luck!

Thanks everyone for your great tips and advice and I wanted to let you know that I GOT a Wii!!!!   Finally after searching everywhere.

I work right next door to the Eaton Centre and decided to check EB Games during my morning coffee break, the store had just opened and while I was there, they received a shipment of Wii's, I was the first to get one. Apparantly, they sold all 20 in 15 minutes.

I guess it's a matter of being persistent and a lot of luck.

For anyone else looking for Wii's, the store clerk told me the best thing to do is call every EB Games location close to you between 10-10:30 every morning, that's when they get their shipments. If they get them in, you have to run right over and pick one up before they sell out. The closer to Christmas, the harder it will be to get one.

Thanks again!!!!

Congrats! Don't forget to set up and test the unit.

For those who are still looking, consolewatch.com is still tracking Canadian online retailers and will alert you when one of them has stock. I tried it out again today, and it did alert me when Amazon.ca had some in stock.

I used this site last year to get my Wii by having it send an e-mail to my cell phone. That way, I was able to jump in exactly as new units came up online.
