I'll going to WDW for a week sans DH who has to work. I'd like to find some fun places to go (but not to meet potential dates or anything). I won't have a car. Other than Jellyrolls, which looks like a blast, where else is a fun place for a single 40 yr old gal who isn't looking to meet a man?

where are you staying?

some of the pool bars are nice. if dvc - look for activities in the community hall.

you can try atlantic dance right across from Jellyrolls on the boardwalk. It's no cover and the crowd is pretty varied, but it's very very spotty about how busy it is. Their primary crowd is the convention crowd so they can be dead on a saturday and swamped on a Tuesday. It's usually worth checking out around midnight to see how busy it is.

Also keep in mind the music is generally older at the beginning of the night. At midnight the outside speaker goes off and it becomes a little less "disney" with the music

If you have other questions let me know, I work as a door host there once in a while.

P.S. write a letter to disney execs and ask THEM what there is to do since they took away PI

You could spend some time checking out other resorts and most all of them have really nice lounges (we will call them) all the way from really swanky (California Grill) to really laid back (CSR lake side bar). Just strolling along the Boardwalk is sooooo nice as is walking the beach at the Poly.
Remember, Have Fun!!

as someone who always goes to disney solo ... i must add some things ..

-go eat a nice dinner at california grill, jiko, or whatever your fav high end disney meal is. i prefer cali grill coz you can eat leisurely and stick around to watch wishes from there.
-shop around downtown disney at night .. go to cirque du soliel.
-jump on the first bus that shows up at your hotel and just go!
-take the monorail around to the resorts .. get a drink at the poly and watch the electrical water pagent, ect.

Take a taxi to CityWalk; that's where all the clubs are now. But this is best done on a Friday or Saturday night when there are a lot of people out and about; Thursday's 80's night (at The Groove) can be pretty fun though too.

About half of my WDW visits are solo and 10 or 11 nights! :)

Really, just do what ever appeals to you. I used to love the AC at PI (*sob*), but spent most of my time in the parks, touring resorts or just realxing. But that's what I enjoy doing! *LOL*

I just got back from my first solo trip so first of all have fun!

The best part about going is not HAVING plans. If I wrote down the list of rides I skipped/ things I DIDN'T do, some people would think I'm crazy LOL. I spent a lot of time riding the same rides multiple times and watching crowds. I went to a lot more "show" type rides/attractions than usual in the parks, as well.

Best nights for me were at Epcot- didn't have any dining ADRS and didn't miss them. I ate and drank my way around the world, with coffee when it got colder.

have fun!

I'm sort of doing the same. I am not going to ride the "big ticket" rides as I am not into thrill rides or roller coasters; it is going to be more shows, other attractions, photography and see what grabs me. I have a "must-do" list and hopefully, I'll be able to check it all out.

Glad to hear your trip went well! Let us know if you are doing a trip report. :goodvibes

We always make new friends in the Rose & Crown Pub at Epcot. There isn't much seating in the pub portion, so we usually end up sharing a table and talking our heads off. :)

Thanks :) At the moment I've been too busy to get to trip reports- I'll post an update if I get around to it. I love the big coasters and such but am getting too old for them I think- can't take that like I used to when I was sixteen! LOL

Have a super time on your trip!

Go to the movies! The theater is awesome. I saw Twillight when I went in December. i'd almost forgotten how nice those seats are. Took me a while to get there though. Nobody told me that the Downtown Disney Bus will drop you off right next to it. Instead I walked all the way over from Saratoga Springs. A nice walk, but I was trying to catch the last showing=P

I go solo every year; check out the lounges at any of the resorts. Get some snacks and kick back and watch TV, and meet other guests.

I also go to the Rainforest Cafe and sit in the bar. When there is a long wait, people sit at the bar for one drink while they are waiting and the turnover is pretty good. You meet all kinds of people.

Go to the movies - I haven't been to a movie theatre at home in years, but I go at least twice while I am down there.

Take some of the water taxi rides - I take the one from DS to the Boardwalk, have an ice cream and sit and enjoy people watching.

There's a million things to do by yourself!
