Where at OKW

We will be staying at the OKW this September and this will be our first time at this resort. We will be in a one bedroom and will be bring my 74 yr handicap mother (this will be her first time ever at WDW ) and we are wondering where is a good place to request a room that is close to the main pool and easy for her to get around. Thank you for any and all information.

If walking up stairs is going to be an issue then you definitely want to be in a one of the buildings with elevators. Last summer, we requested an elevator building due to my sons disability. They put us in a building with an elevator but as it turned out they put us on the first floor anyway so it didn't make a difference. But still the buildings with the elevators are close to the main pool and having a short walk to the pool was a big plus and made things easier for him.

I would request one of the "elevator" buildings--62, 63 and 64, I think.. or a ground floor villa. That is unless she needs a Handicapped Accessale villa.

If she needs a handicapped accessable villa, let MS know ASAP!

just request a handicapped room near the HH.

the handicapped rooms are on the first floor - expect for building 62-64 (these are the ones with an elevator).

that say be aware that the early building design was slightly different from the after 30's building design.

the changed the door to the master bathroom.

in the earlier design you had to go through the master bedroom, in the later there is another door.

If you are staying in a 1 bedroom, I assume you are planning on your mom having the king bed and you are taking the pull out sofa. I would either request an elevator building (make sure you tell them it is for her medical reasons) or I'd ask to be near a bus stop in any building above #30. That will NOT be the HH area, but being near a bus stop will get you to HH quickly with any bus, since they all stop at HH last. If you are in the HH area buildings that are in the HH booking catagory, none of the rooms will have the extra door to the bathroom, and you will be stuck going through the master to get to the bathroom from the living room.
