A few months ago I saw all kinds of cheap flights to Orlando from Edmonton or Calgary, around 370 return all taxes included. The dates I was interested in were the first week of December and/or the last week in March. Now there's nothing out there for less that 570!!! Any ideas if prices will come down closer to travel time, or should I book with these prices? Any good tips on where to search for reasonable flights? Any help would be hugely appreciated as I have 6 or 8 tickets to book.

Given what has gone on with the price of fuel and the reduction of routes with the airlines, I would be surprised if there are going to be really good deals for us Albertans.

I know...?? We went in July here for $370.00 each and we are looking for 14 of us for Christmas and the prices are through the roof and changing every minute. I am okay with paying $500 for xmas, but not $800 or $900 each. We went last Christmas and only booked 30 days out for $525 each. I check on www.kayak.com and then it sends you to the airlines website. I found the best prices there and the most airlines, but no Canadian airlines on there. Let me know if you see any deals.

We booked through United which in itself is a circus:lmao: Airlines are constantly changing and cancelling flights to maximize cost savings. We got flights for the five of us return inc txs for 2360.00cad for December by booking them in February. Some people have booked through NWA and got deals. We have consistently found the lowest prices on car rentals and flights through Travelocity/Canada.:goodvibes

Unfortunately that's the nature of buying airline tickets - prices can change 5 minutes after you look at the price.

Most of the time you will never find an cheaper ticket if you wait until the last minute ... you might have a hard time finding a ticket at all if you do. It's been my experience that you‟ll most likely get the best deal by booking as early as possible. The longer you wait, usually the more expensive your ticket will be. Also airlines only sell so many seats in a booking class (those are the letters on your ticket - i.e., L, T, K, etc) and of course those that are cheaper always go first.

One trick is to sign up for the airlines fare promotions email or buy an entertainment book (they used to have $$$ off airfare for certain airlines).

I have often found good deals to Tampa-- not too far away from Orlando. Last trip, Tampa was $200 less per person on AC than Orlando. Also, easier to get aeroplan seats.....

We do WDW twice a year, and hear you about the flights from Alberta YUCK!For this coming December we sprung, and got tickets on West Jet, but we have flown Continental and United before because of their great rates. Continental was by far the cheapest last time I looked. A good comparison chart is travelocity.ca and then I just go to the actual airline website to check their pricings when I see who looks the cheapest.

We never fly WJ or AC to the US - we find their prices are just too outrageous ... the American carriers are usually much cheaper. Of our past 8 trips, our flights have averaged around $400/pp return on Northwest. WJ and AC have been at least double/triple that price at the time we booked them. And when you go down three or four times a year the savings are worth going with an American carrier.
