Where are the better cabins?

Me and the family will be staying in Fort Wilderness for 10 days in November/December. Am I able to make a request for a certain loop to stay in, and if so, is there any that you folks would recommend? This will be our first trip down in almost 20 years together and staying at Fort Wilderness. Thanks for any help!:mickeyjum

There are the highly desired cabins on the 100 loop near the beach/Marnia. I actually thought it was impossible to get them, but recently someone reported they got one. If you don't plan on getting a gold cart, then it might be wise to choose a loop closer to the center of FW. Other then that, they are pretty similar. Previous posters have downloaded maps. I would suggest doing a search and check out what amenities are most important and go with the loop closest. We rent a golf cart so we don't really care. Just one that we can get an early check in on. :)

Except for the previously mentioned 2 cabins in the 100 loop, the rest of the cabins are in the loops closets to the Outpost area, loops 2100 through 2600

here is a link to the map http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/fortwilderness.htm

What are your specifics in terms of what you think would be a good area, near the pool, quiet, close to the bus stop(loop stop or Outpost). Different families have different needs, so depending on your need a recomendation can be made.

We're requesting a loop near the pool and laundry - that also won't be far to a bus stop. We plan to use the buses internally - the golf carts just add too much to the cost of our stay - another $500 just to drive occasionally around the campground just seems excessive.

Good luck,

We request the 2600 loop when we go. Close to a bus stop and a short walk across the street to the pool.

I will have my parents who are both in their 70's, so I don't want to make them walk too far to a bus stop, or go to camp store, but be able to sit outside and relax with little noise. I'll have to study the map a little more thanks!:mickeyjum :smickey:

I like loop 2600 for those reasons. If you can get a cabin a close to the beginning of the loop, then there will be less walking to the bus stop and pool. We have always stayed on that loop. Not my choice but by chance. ( I take whatever is open when I get there.) It was always quiet!!!!! And an easy walk to pool.

Sounds like rather than a loop, you may just need to request a "cabin near the bus stop". That rather generic request will give the site assigners more options to have you near a bus(there are only so many cabins near the bus stop in each loop). The camp store will not be near any of the cabins, but the bus does go by it, so near a bus stop would seem like the best bet for your parents.

Hi- I have found over our 15 or so trips to the Fort... Loop 2500 - which is the same loop you'll find the pool and laundry is a great area to stay in. I also love 2300 because it's a small loop.

I always ask for a desired loop at check in. I always say- any chance I can stay in loop 2300, 2500 ??? I also ask to see where the cabin is located- I don't want one backed up to the road.

Hope this helps!

Hmmm, I wonder how that is possible? Those are actually a perk reserved for executives/employees of Fleetwood (the company who made the "cabins" in FW). Unless that is changed? (:worship: Which would be GREAT!) I always wondered why they only had 2 right there so close to the marina and tried for years to reserve one. That is the answer I was given by more than one CM.

I also vote for reserving a cabin near a bus stop. Try to find one with shade for the deck if you plan on cooking out. It is nice to sit on the patio in the morning and evening.

Dis bug, I was to under the impression that you couldn't get those cabins on the 100 loop. It was about 1-2 months ago, someone reported that they actually stayed there and had picture to prove it. It gave me hope. Apparently, they put on their request with their reservation.

You can drive to the Meadows, but parking is fairly limited (about 3 spaces next to the Meadows and maybe 5 or 6 right across the street and I've never seen them all occupied) and I agree that the main requirement should be a cabin close to a bus stop and mention the reason being your elderly parents. You could also if necessary drive your parents to bus stop go back park and then walk back to the bus stop. That shouldn't add more than 5 or 6 min trip time.

Made my ressies yesterday. CSR noted my request and said it is usually honoroed for the reasons I gave. Thanks for the info!

Have fun. I am jealous. So far no ressies yet. But I am aiming for Jan.
