Where are the airfare sales?

Was I misled by the media that airlines would drop fares because of lower passenger counts? We are looking at two trips: Hawaii and WDW, we can fly out of MKE or ORD, but the fares seem to be high and only move higher. It seems we used to be able to wait them out, but if we wait, the next week it's $10 higher. Maybe our market is just not hungry enough to offer sales. Maybe the airlines are taking a cue from Disney, if attendence drops, cut services and raise rates.

The last few years airlines have lowered their fares to Florida the week after the 4th of July... so keep an eye out at that time... Southwest was doing a Friends Fly Free promotion for a long time, but it's over...

For a Hawaii trip, do you need a place to stay? I saw a really good package yesterday on the American Express site... it was 5 nights at the Westin Maui, 100.00 food credit & air from Boston/New York for 1100.00 per person, double occupancy required... don't know what the adjustment would be from your area... if that doesn't work out, check the fares on www.bestfares.com, I think they have a members only 550.00 rate (but you'd have to join of course)

Am curious as to what rates Disney raised.....park admission hasn't changed, and discounted WDW lodging has been the rule,
not the exception.....which leads to the question?

Admission rates haven't changed but resort prices went up their usual 5% or so for rack rates. And they have cut EE, cancelled e-nights in May and cut park hours in general. I think this is what the other poster was referring to.

To be on topic...it has been the case this year to JUMP on any good fare you can find as soon as it appears. It doesn't pay to wait like it did before from all the posts we have been seeing about airfare lately. Maybe July 4 will bring a new round of fares, but honestly, you just can't count on it.
