My DH and my mom are "IT guys." Also three of my friends' husbands are IT guys. We don't pay for IT support around here.

Same with me except mine is an Electrical engineer who works with computers.
(and so do all the neighbors!)

Several years ago I had to call him at work about a problem and he said I didn't know you married me for the 24 hour tech support. I said well you can't dance so what did you think I married you for!!

Dh is also an EE. He builds all our desktops.

I am the IT guy in my family too. Lord my family calls me 24/7. I do charge friends of family members now. I find out being use to a point. immediate family get computer problems fix for free.

Just laid out $300 to the Apple store for repairs for my daughter's Mac Book Pro. 2 different problems over the last month, hope were done with that.
Macs are wonderful when the work, and a nightmare when they don't because Apple is just about the only place that will work on them. We bought it at Best Buy, and they need 4 weeks to fix a Mac because they have nobody on staff to fix them.

Our PC's I can usually fix,or if my son is home, he works in IT and he can fix, or I can take it to work, our IT guys do repairs on the side for a flat $50 fee.
