There is a little known theme park in Ocala(actually the oldest theme park in the US)It's called Silver Springs. Now I live in FLA.And have not been their in twenty years:confused3 Only live 45mins away? But what A braeth of fresh air.So layed back.No hussle and bustle of the BIG3,just a laid back, simply BEAUTIFUL theme park!!

The origanle glass bottom boats. From the early Tarzan movies, the origanal trees shot in the films with the vines(circa 1930's)!!

What a break. The little things will make it fun.

Let's not forget that they shot scenes for Sea Hunt with Mike Nelson there. Suddenly there it was. :)

Also one of the James Bond movies was shot there.

It is a great place to see Old Florida on the boat tours.

It used to be really nice but over the years the number of fish you could see with the glass bottom boats has really gone down. Since they let people use the waterways it's ruined the experience.

yea most of the cute little fish are gone.

also it is much longer these days - it took me around 90 minutes - on turnpike and I75 to get there.

even the back roads US 192 to US 27 is longer - they are changing the road system - so unless you know a route that I don't - it is no longer 45 minutes.

You can take 429 which will bypass 27. That will save some time. But you are right it isn't 45 mins.

hey I took 429 - florida turnpike and i75 - it was 90 minutes. of course part of that time at the turnipike waiting for them to take my money - this thing is S L O W.

which you florida resident don't have to bother with if you have their fast pass thing.

Have to agree... Silver Springs is a nice quiet day out. It takes a while to get there mind but when you arrive... life's pace is much slower... not a bad thing for us older folk.
