if you don't stop ________, we're leaving! Do you really leave?

Yesterday we went to get our season passes at Cedar Point and the plan was to go in the park for a few hours. However, the boys listening ears got left at home, so we never made it in the park. My oldest knew I was serious, but my 4 1/2 yr old was pretty shocked.

So are you good at Follow-Through??????

I'm not consistent when it comes to following through but I'm working on it!

It does depend but most of the time we do follow through with not going. Dorian has missed a few things this year because his behavior and listening ears were left someplace else.

I am usually pretty good. Maybe not 100%, but usually.. ...I think it is important to follow though wih anything you tell anyone. Builds respect and trust

DH ALWAYS follows up! Like the time we were cruising I-85 and the alert went out "if you don't stop hitting each other I am going to stop the car". Okay, in Atlanta traffic, we made our way to the shoulder and two little behinds (6/9 yo) were a little more worn for wear! We never had the car problem again!!

Nothing drives me crazier than to hear SIL threaten the nephews 15 times and never move, especially when we are out in public or at a family gathering. She finally started saying do you want U. Greg to take care of you....they immediately straighten up because they KNOW he means BUSINESS!!

I am not quite as good as DH I usually do the three strikes your out thing. Yes, we have left restaurants, theme parks, parties etc. because of not minding. Don't threaten it unless you plan on following up.

DW is very bad on follow through. DD knows I mean it, but that still doesn't stop her sometimes. Just has to learn the hard way...

I usually follow through. I don't 100% of the time, but DD knows that I mean business!

I try to follow through and probably am about 95% consistent. I did have to learn, however, not to make a threat I wasn't prepared to execute. E.G. Never say "we'll leave ... wherever" unless it's someplace you are willing to leave! If I paid for a one-day ticket somewhere, I wouldn't want to have to go so I'd have to come up with another 'threat.' :p

I'm good with the follow thru - but my first threat is never "going home". I start with a time out outside or in the car, the the explanation that the next step is to leave and head back home - I've only had to actually leave and take DD home once (so far ;) ).

It isn't an issue now but I always followed through. My husband on the other hand, was a real pushover when it came to stuff like that, he would threaten and not follow through

I wish I could follow through as well as DH, just this past weekend we were on our way to a day trip. He warned DD and DS once about their backseat fightng. They didn't control themselves and he turned around. Fortunately that doesn't happen very often.
