When you hear people talking about Disney

It depends on the situation and who is talking. If someone who knows I love Disney mentions it to me then I'll talk with them, or correct them if necessary. If someone I don't know, I'll pick my battles. I recently had to tell someone that Disney World was in Florida, and not California. Normally, I can shake it off if they call Disney World "Disneyland in Florida" or or Disneyland "Disney World in California" but this person said that both Disney World and Disneyland were in California. :confused3 Perhaps they though the 2 parks of the DLR, were WDW and DL?

I have to restrain myself when others are talking about Disney, esepcially if they're total strangers (Like when I'm waiting on line in a store). If I hear something totally off the wall, I'll politely intervene ("No, I don't believe you're allowed to bungee-jump off of Cinderella's Castle."). ;) Other than that, I keep my mouth shut. You know ... I basically have to bite the inside of my cheeks to keep from blurting things out.

It's difficult sometimes, especially when I see someone wearing a WDW sweatshirt or tee-shirt. My first instinct is to rush up to them and start the whole, "When did you go? Where did you stay?" thing. I don't want to seem like a big weirdo, though, accosting a total stranger.

I'll admit that I do get rather snippy with family. I mean, for the umpteenth time already: The Harry Potter Forbidden Journey ride is not located in the Magic Kingdom ... Umm ... It's at a completely different theme park.

I have referred a few friends to the DIS boards.

:confused3 Really?? :rotfl: I can't tell you how many people asked me if I went on it on our last trip to WDW... uh, nope, didn't do Universal! Even my own sister, who had been to WDW in feb asked me!!

I once tried to help a long distance friend who was planning a trip Thanksgiving weekend. She had been told it was one of the least busy times to go :scared1:. She wouldn't believe me and was getting testy about it so I bit a hole in my tongue. I never heard from her after that. :goodvibes

Most of the time I get excited and start to offer advice, but quicky give up when I see that the person either already knows it all or just doesn't care.

When I go to a new place, I love to hear from people who have been there, so its hard for me to understand the attitude, but I guess everybody's different.

no, i usually don't say anything, unless someone asks me. i've helped a couple of people plan trips-one listened to me and had a great time, the other not so much, and their trip was, shall we say, less than magical (they say they'll never go back).

When I was at the pool at a Disney resort and a guy was questioning out loud whether it was worth it for his family to pay for Fast Pass, I corrected him (hey, I was giving him good news!) Yesterday when a mom (who wasn't planning a trip) said that Fast Pass only costs a little bit more, I kept quiet.

Sometimes I will, sometimes I won't. I have tried (and failed) to tell my best friend that even for short trips, if you are planning on going to a sit-down meal to book it in advance. She did get lucky on her last trip and got a decent time at Cinderella's Royal Table.

My DH even volunteered me to give information to a stranger once. :lmao: He went to get our Military Salute tickets and started talking to someone who was planning a trip. He came home with the person's email and asked me to send him some basic information and the websites (Obviously the Dis & Allears) to use.

I went to a talk that was given by a former executive at Disney. Occassionaly through his talk he would ask a question that had to do with Disney and he would give a small Disney themed prize. I ended up answering the first question because no one else could answer it. I happen to have my custom Mickey Icon purse with me that day and he noticed that and my Mickey Icon earrings.

Only if I'm asked my opinion. It drives me batty hearing others give incorrect info or make bonehead mistakes due to poor planning but I can't save people from themselves.

I love this thread. How much time do you have?

Last trip to Disney and Universal was five years ago, went with another family. Friend was planning first trip to Universal and asked what was worth seeing and how were the hotels. The other mom that was on the Disney/Universal trip with us gave her the wrong name for the hotel, told her that IOA was not worth seeing because it was just for "little kids" (she only remembered the Seuss Landing area) and had Disney and Universal's rides mixed up. I tried to intervene, but the other mom that was on the trip with us was convinced that she was right about everything. Woman planning the trip said "I think I'll just look on the website."
