...it makes you realize how really special Disney is. Ugh, went to 6 Flags, what a difference!

Because of where you are, I'm guessing either Great Escape or 6F New England -- which are both great parks, but . . . Let's just say "...you get what you pay for!!" :thumbsup2

Great Escape. since the 6 days tickets were so cheap vs a one day pass, I offered them to the kids and they said, "no, thanks, let's save for disney instead"

There may be other folks trying to entertain but there is only Disney when it comes to parks.

We were at 6 Flags over Texas last week and had a blast! But we're also in to Thrill Rides - something there's just not much of at WDW.

I closed my eyes on the swing ride (an old favorite) and pretended it was Soarin', lol

I had someone ask me to go to Great Adventure with them a few days ago - it's about 15 min from my house. I thanked them for the offer and declined. Even if it was free, I wouldn't waste my time there let alone my money. I'd much rather pay the premium for Disney and know that I'm going enjoy every moment.

I don't go into Disney thinking amusement park, I think "world" I guess. When we go to amusement parks, I take them for what they are for our family, a good day trip (maybe 2) for some thrill rides and some water slides. For us, it's not a destination like Disney, but just something to do during the summer. No comparison.

I totally agree! We enjoy many amusement parks during the year (Busch Gardens, Canobie Lake, Six Flags, Santa's Vilage etc.) and we have a great time as long as we don't compare them.

Funny story: One year while waiting for the Magic Kingdom parade to start my 4 year old turned to me and asked "are we going to Canobie Lake Park (local family amusement park in NH) this summer? He actually preferred it to Disney because he could ride everything without getting off on a quiet day!

I also find that my boys enjoy other amusement parks as much if not more than Disney because they "have been there, done it, too many times. It's tough to live their lives. LOL! My five year old daughter still thinks Disney is the best place on earth. Thank goodness!

my DD commented on the lack of theming, I didn't even think she knew what that meant

The only thing I think about in comparison is the price. I think of how much you get at Disney, for not that much more a ticket than you do at other parks. I don't go expecting them to be the same, because they are not, nor will they ever be. I just enjoy what they are.

My family loves our local amusement park. Its a nostalgic old park thats been around since the 1900's.

Kennywood :lovestruc

The kids truely look forward to our trips there during the summer as much as our yearly trips to WDW.

We enjoy other Amusement parks.... but Six Flags really is lacking in my opion. In just this past year we've done Hershey Park, Dorney Park, Sesame Place and Busch Gardens.

Six Flags just isn't on our 'to do' list anymore. It's very disappointing anymore (we did go for years though)

I would love to go to Kennywood....a friend of mine just went this past weekend. I was looking at pictures, it looks like a great place!!!

I've been there! It's a great park. It's got a totally different old time feel than WDW or any other park that's still around. We still have a magnet from the Steel Phantom rollercoaster on our fridge and it's been like 20 years. :rotfl2: Do they still have the racing rollercoasters - the wooden ones?

There are other amusement parks?:confused3

No seriously we DO love Holiday World here in Indiana. We went to Dollywood reluctantly and it wasn't too bad although we couldn't believe they get away with flying elephants and spinning teacups.

I'm pretty sure we will never go to six flags or universal again after our last experiences there.

I like just about all amusement parks whether it's a good carnival or Disneyworld. They all have their place IMO.

I will say that Six Flags doesn't cut it for me lately though. It's too raggedy and too much about coasters now. I like a few coasters but not exclusively. For that reason, I figure that Cedar Point wouldn't really work for me either as great as it's supposed to be.

I would LOVE to go to Kennywood sometime because I love what I read about it. I also adore Universal and I'll just say to each their own.

The sad thing about Kennywood is that because it is so close it easy to put off going for another day. I am determined to make it there this summer.

I actually liked Universal the first time but our experience was horrible last time and that's the only time dh has been and we're not willing to risk that kind of money on a possible good time when WDW is a sure thing.
