When you fight with your dh/spouse/so

are you ever really loud. DH and I just had a big fight over something stupid and I was loud. The fight didn't last more then 15 minutes, and I apologized to my kids.(older teens) It doesn't happen often. But I live in a condo/apartment type building. I feel like I need to apologize to my neighbors, and am embarrassed that anyone would know I am having a fight with my dh. Afterwards I thought what if they called the police, my landlord or something.
We weren't throwing things or anything, if we lived in a single home and the houses were super close to each other nobody would have heard. We are just really close to our neighbors and I think I was loud.

Tigerroo....it happens! I wouldn't worry about what the neighbors think.

But I do like the fact that you apologized to your kids. I do that when I get mad and lose my temper, either with them, or with DH.

But would you apologize to your neighbors? I know it sounds much worst thru the walls. As there is only one other couple in the building, and they drink heavily and never fight nobody else could fight. I just can't imagine apologizing yet I would hate to have somebody complain to my landlord. Finances have been tight, we had a major family illness and fights have been more frequent. We are working on stress relief by walking briskly down the beach instead of fighting and I think we are getting better.

PS, I am not a good talker and tend to be shy. If I tried to apologize I would end up looking stupid. I'm not the sort to be able to just chat and explain something in a breezy way.

Just say, hey, I imagine you heard the fight. I'm sorry if I disturbed you.

It happens.

I wouldn't go looking for the neighbors, just if you happen to see them you might mention it.

If I'm ever loud when we're arguing, my SO knows he's really screwed up.

I remember a night in 1989 that my neighbors heard me screaming at my ex-husband. Thank heavens they called the police or I might not be here now. I was very embarrassed, but very thankful. Of course, ex-husband later told me the knife was dull. I didn't think to stop and ask him if t was dull as he held it to my thraot.

That had to be terrifying. I'm glad they called the police too.
