? when you book & wait it out for a code...

I just booked my room only today for Feb 2010 - she said I can add a package prob around August- and maybe a deal will be out then too- so I am just wondering how exactly that works- like will they totally re-book me then cancel my existing ressie or just amend the current one? if they cancel the current one will my deposit just be applied to the new one? or will I have to make another deposit- and wait for the existing one to be credited on my card?
just curious
Also if they do have to cancel and make a totally new reservation- could you lose the room you want in the process? or do they transfer it or something?
does that make sence?
I have never booked this far out before LOL sorry for all the questions

If you are keeping a room only reservation they will just adjust the existing reservation. If you are switching to a package it will be a new reservation and you would have to put a new deposit ($200) down and they will refund your room only reservation. It doesn't take too long...a few days they say up to 3 weeks I believe but I never waited that long for the refund. YES...this is the biggest mistake people make. Do not allow them to cancel the first one until you are set with your new one. I've seen people lose the original room in seconds...the CM cancelled the first one booked a different one...it wasn't what the person wanted and wanted the original reservation back and the ROOM WAS GONE!

hmmm so does anyone have any experience w/ booking the garden view rooms at the poly LOL like do they fill up fast- (they are the cheapest rooms there)

ok... another question- sort of- when I book the package - new ressie- and there isn't a code/ pin available at the time - if one comes out later can I adjust the package w/ out totally re-booking- or is it the same process? jeeze why do I make this so difficult LOL would you just wait till then (they said August) to just do it all at once? I was just doing it so early to make sure I get that rate KWIM? But it sounds like booking this early won't help me...

I did this for our trip this year! I made a room only ressie in February of last year for this past January. In August of 2008, when the package rates were released, I was able to book our package without loosing the existing reservation. (Good thing I had made a RO, cause POFQ was booked solid for our dates by then!) When the 4/3 code came out in November, I was able to upgrade us to WL with no problems. You should be fine as long as you have your RO! I too was very stressed about the switchover process! Feel free to PM me if you have anymore questions!

oh well thats good to hear- so they kept your RO- did you have to do another deposit? and have your RO one refunded?
