I would eat on Universal property at places like Vivo, Cowfish or Mythos before going home. I really enjoyed Hard Rock Cafe as well. It is a louder than you may like place for Dinner, but the food is good and the rock Memorabilia was awesome. A better experience than my hometown's (Baltimore, MD) Hard Rock.

I second (or third?) Tchoup Tchoup. My son always insists that we eat at Sweet Tomatoes at least once when we're in the area too . We also like Bahama Breeze. But I also agree with PP--I'd rather leave Disney and stay on Uni property.

This. I don't find WDW dining options to be bad, and to be sure there are some great ones, but you will find a much greater variety, with unique food that for the most part hasn't been as 'dumbed down' as WDW food can be, at UO. From Tchoup Chop at Royal Pacific, to Mythos inside the park, to the Cowfish and many others in CityWalk, I'd take advantage of the opportunity and try something at UO.

So now Universal is out Disneying Disney in the restaurant arena too. Remarkable. I have only been to Islands of Adventure once and we ate at a counter service, but these suggestions look fantastic! I look forward to exploring Universal and City Walk in the future.

There are decent enough places at Universal to eat. There really is so much to do there, and the parks are great at night, it's worth it to stay all day and eat at Universal instead of wasting the time to make it back to the Disney bubble for an ADR.

Eat at Universal or offsite. Having said that, we really, really did not like Mythos. We thought it was overpriced and the food was just poorly prepared. Possibly the worst meal of our 10 day trip. There are plenty of good places to eat at CityWalk, and lots of filling, cheap dining options in Kissimmee/Lake Buena Vista. We were at Disney for free dining, so we took the TS credit we could have used that evening and put it towards a signature meal on another evening.
