We're debating on going next Sept (the 3rd week) or the first week of Dec. When would you go??? The December trip we'd be able to go to MVMCP for the first time. But we would most likely not be able to do very much swimming I'm assuming. Any thoughts???

Going for my first December trip at the beginning of December. Can't wait. Maybe other people can fill us both in. I do not know what to pack.

The weather in December...you never know, but if it is over 75...I am going swimming. WOOHOO!! :cool1: September(3rd week) should not be too busy, and there is a remote chance for free dining. Between the two it is a tough choice.

I am going to vote ....Beginning of December. For the following reasons: Decorations are up, Christmas Party, Candelight Procession, Osborne Lights, 50/50 chance of swimming, lower crowds(but very busy time for DVC), and if you have children you can never recapture Disney at Holiday time. They to get WL if you can.

What to wear.
First of all, usually in March we travel with 4 suitcases...including carryons. The December trip it will probably be 6-7 suitcases(including carry ons).

I am packing the following:
3 Capris,2 Jeans,2 Knit pants(like dressy sweat pants), 3 LS Shirts, 4 SS Shirts, 2 sweaters,1 Knit Jacket,1 Jacket with removable lining, Hat and gloves, 2 bathing suits, 1 coverup, 2 pr shorts(if weather is going to be warm). One nicer outfit for Christmas.

For kids
2 pr unzip pants, 2 pr jeans, 2 pr athletic pants
3 ls shirts, 3 ss shirts, wind breaker, 2 sweatshirt,
kakhi jackets, and coat, hat and gloves, 2 bathing suits, and something to wear as a coverup. 1 nicer outfit for Christmas.

DH does what he wants.
I do laundry every 3 days, and will tweak packing list baised on weather forcast 2 days before trip.
I wear my bulkiest items on the plane...and those outfits are included in totals.
Hope this helps.

This will be our third trip the first week of December. Everything is beautifully decorated for the holidays. During the day we can usually wear jeans or capris (although the teenagers will wear shorts). At night it can get very chilly and we have to add a sweatshirt or jacket. Since the pools are heated we usually can swim or at least use the hot tub. Historically, the crowds haven't been that bad even though the hotels are booked. We usually stay at the WL (this time is our first visit to AKL) and I noticed there were a lot of seniors who seemed to enjoy hanging out at the hotel rather than hit those roller coasters.

If you've never been to MVMCP you have to go at least once. Just to see it snow on Main Street is worth the trip in December.

I vote for the first week in Dec. That's when we are going. This will be my DH's very first trip to the world. :goodvibes And we are doing the MVMCP too!! :mickeyjum I went this same time last year with my sisters and our daughters. We had a wonderful time!! The weather was wonderful during the day. It did get chilly, even cold at night. The night that we did MVMCP last year it was VERY COLD and a little misty. So if you go at this time make sure you pack a little of everything. :thumbsup2

I think we'll have to wait until our next trip in 2008. In 2007 we're supposed to go 9/22 and we have another family member joining us. I don't know that Christmas would fit into his schedule.

We always stay at the VWL, we own DVC for there!!! Can't wait to go the first week of Dec. Now I can plan our '07 and '08 trip. :teeth:

We've gone that week in Sept and it was great, this was however before the free dining. The crowds were very low (no waits). I understand now they offer the MNSSHP around this time, but it was not offered a few years ago.

This year we decided to give the Holidays a try and are going the first week of Dec and attending our first MVMCP...can't wait...34 more days :woohoo:

No matter what you decide - enjoy!

Thanks everyone for your thoughts. As I said in an earlier post we do have a family member joining us so we need to take him (father in law) into consideration. We've also asked my mom, dad, grandmother, brother and his wife and kids to join us. Since we already have things in the works for the third week of Sept next year we're going to stick with that. BUT the following year when it's just us (myself, hubby and our two kids) we're going to go the first week of Dec. I'm so excited about BOTH trips!!!

Thanks again for your input.

We took one of our trips in September and never again. It was 1999 and hurricane season. It was the first time all parks except parts of epcot were closed. They had us fill our tub with water and passed out flaslights. The only food you could buy was the items already made in the resorts because employees could not get to work. It was scarey and not much fun. I would choose December because of the Christmas decorations and the extra excitement in the air. Enjoy whenever you go.

We've gone to WDW the first week of December a couple of times and its the most magical time to be in Disney. Christmas decorations are done in their fullest, atmosphere reeks of christmas, music etc. Our experiences have been great, weather has been the best the few times we've gone. Temps during the day are made for swimming, pools are heated though, but getting out in the evening and going back to an A/Ced building alittle nippy. We come from northeastern Ohio, and its downright cold if not snowing and we wear a sweatshirt and light golf type jacket on the train and that's our cover for any cool nights in Disney, mostly we wear shorts while on property. Great time to visit, go for December.

I am not a hot weather fan and September can be pretty hot! we prefer December...or actually, the end of November. The weather is tricky though! it can range from very HOT to very COLD in both September AND December.
I love all of the wonderful holiday decorations more then anything in December so I guess that would be my pick. Good luck to you and have fun! Helen
