Okay, I admit it's the first day back from our 12 day trip, and already I'm planning my next two. I've booked the last week of October for the family (five adults) in a two bedroom as we want to enjoy the FW Festival next year. Of course, as this recent trip included the Christmas decorations, I'm wishing we could expereience that again next year (it will be first in years that we don't!!). If we postponed the trip to the last week of the FW Festival there's a chance we would be able to take in some holiday decor. However, I think that last week of the FW Festival happens around Veterans Day and the time that New Jersey schools are out. Am I right? If so, are we better to only dream of Christmas decor and enjoy the last week of October instead?

You are correct that the last week of the F&W fest. is the week of the New Jersey invasion. It is the week that we come down. When we were there this yaer there were a few decorations up and even were in the prosses of going up. If I had to guess it's probably not till the following week that they are in full splender!

Some friends were at WDW the week of November 11-18. This time included the last couple of days of the F&W & the beginning of most Christmas activities (not Candlelight Processional). They said the crowds were minimal!

We went down for the last week-end of F&W last year ( it was also Super Soap weekend) and the BWV were decorated so nicely.

We were going to go down the 11/2-11/7 next year. Will the hotel still be decorated at this time? If I am missing MNSSHP than I definitely want the hotel decor. and Christmas music.

(There is something surreal about sitting at Luna Park and hearing Bing sing "White Christmas". :rotfl: )

I can give you one piece of advice- plan on during the week! We were in Epcot for it this year, and the weekday was pleasant enough, the weekend was just plain insane.

I think I've decided I'll keep the last full week in October and pray for no hurricanes. We'll enjoy the full F&W festivities and attend the MNSSHP. It's just gonna stink missing Christmas at WDW next year. However, we do have plans to enjoy Hilton head over the Christmas/New Years holiday. Not the same but nice.

Sorry, but you probably won't see hotel decor at that time. You will see some park decor, though.

We were there the week after Columbus Day this year. The first weekend was a little crowded but by Monday things had completely thinned out. During the day we practically had the F&W to ourselves.

Disneygirl--how hot was it? I'm so spoiled to the cooler temps after Thanksgiving. I'm hoping that if we plan the last week in October (well, already did), it will be slightly cooler than what we've experienced in September. The humidity is so draining!

It was pretty hot. I would say high 80's but not unbearable with lots of water. The evenings were beautiful.

We have been to F&W twice during veterans/jersey week/super soap wknd. Our recent trip was last month 11/5-11/12. It was warmer than we expected, around 80-85 every day. In Nov 02, it was around 70-75.

F&W was sparse during the day and very crowded at night. The crowds were not as heavy as summer (2nd wk July 05). But, seemed to be rather heavy (yet still enjoyable) and in line with what we saw during columbus day week 2 yrs ago.

Holiday decorations were very prevalent in the parks and started to appear at the resorts. we did miss the osbourne lights at mgm by a day or so... However, it was great to see the decorations we did see.

At all costs, we avoid mgm during super soap wknds. We're not soap fans and there's no need for us to put up with the extra foot traffic.

We do struggle with when to go: Oct for F&W + MNSSHP, Nov for F&W + cooler days, Dec for MVMCP... We've been during each of those times and it is a toss up which one we like the best.

I'm having the same struggle trying to plan next year's trip with 4 newbies. We've been the 2nd, 3rd & last week of Oct. Early Oct was too hot for me. I tend to lean to 10/28 - 11/6, but I'm considering other dates in mid Nov or end of Jan. Trying to have low crowds.
